Sir, you are an absolute legend! My washing machine had been leaking for months, and I couldn't fix it myself, so I was about to buy a replacement valve. But then I stumbled upon your video about the worn rubber on a piston and how to resurface it with Emery cloth. So, I gave it a try, and no more leaks now! Thanks so much for sharing this genius solution.

Thank you for the kind comments. It is appreciated.
You're a legend mate cheers very detailed and easy to understand. Cleaned the 3 diaphragm micro holes and my valve seems no longer to be sticking open. Much appreciated!
Excellent video, thanks for the great explanation of how these work. Was about to replace the 5 valve manifold on my LG washer ($70 for the OEM part), but after watching your video figured I might give it a go at disassembling and cleaning. Worked like a charm. Took me about an hour to disassemble, clean and reassemble. So far, no more leaks.

Thank you for the kind words. Happy to have been of help
Thanks a ton for this info. All I could find was a really expensive spare part or second hand spares. This saved me the time of waiting (and paying) for a spare as all I had to do was to clean the valve. I get a lot of sand from my well in my water and some of it slips past the filter as it gets fuller. I really appreciate that you take the time to make videos like this, it helps to get more life out of appliances and reduces waste wich is fantastic!

I totally agree..I just wish they'd explain the symptom of a bad valve and how to get the door open in a locked, malfunction state.
A perfect video - I learned something new, fixed something quickly and prevented a flood. Thank you!
It has taken 5 months to get a new water valve, at the cost of 93 dollars. My washer was still operating( not at true performance) but wife still able to do laundry. I kept old water valve and plan on trying to do the repair as you are doing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the subject
You just made my day. Came looking for why this or that valve didn't work with what and I ended up fixing my old one. Kudos! The stem was loose in mine, no wonder it leaked so much.
Wow thanks for the video, in my case it was a slightly cracked diaphragm rubber gasket, and the valve wouldn't open correctly... I replaced this little part and now everything is working just fine! :) Marvellous!
YOU MADE MY DAY (and saved me the money and trouble getting a new valve) Thank you for words of wisdom 😀
Thanks much for the how-to! Our unit was leaking quite badly. Went through the cleaning process and all appears well again. I would note that I had to remove four more screws to get my control panel to lay-over, two hidden under the control panel trim. Thanks much!
Fantastic! My water comes straight from a well, and every time we have a rain the water gets very dirty. The water inlet has some filters but not enough apparently, so in my cace it was just a matter of opening the valve and cleaning it thoroughly, especially those micro holes in the valves. Worked like a charm. If the problem is repeating I am considering making those micro pores a bit less micro with a hot needle. 😊 Big cheers!

You have to be careful opening up the micro holes. If the holes are too big the pressure will be unbalanced to the degree that the valve only opens a small amount

@@albertalaundrysystems5928 oh... It appears that something has gone wrong with my DIY valve fix. It appears to be leaking now - it drips water in, even when the valve is closed. Also, the machine goes through the washing cycle fine, but halts and throws an error when it is supposed to be doing spin dehydrate stage. Did I damage some sensor by accident?
@albertalaundrysystems5928

@@jaredt1983 It sounds like the diaphragm & / or Plunger should be replaced. That is why the valve continues to leak. You have to find out what the error code is for. I would doubt that you "hurt" a sensor
nice, just took apart the dual electrolux valve intake as the cold intake valve wasnot working and throwing up error E10. gave it a solid wipe down on the interior/ cap. lots of black crap came off it. put everything back together and currently running a test run and it seems to be working.. cheers
Thanks to your detailed story, I saved money and time. The problem seemed big, but you once again showed that the causes are often in the little things..... of course, if you understand and know where to look. 👍😉
Incredible video! Think you might have just saved my washing machine.
Very good! My Miele fill light came on; I figured it was the filler valve but didn't know what to do about it other then replace it for a gazillion dollars to Miele and get it sometime this millennium. You gave me a great idea! I have a 3 valve switcher, and the cold water fill wasn't working for the final rinse. After taking it apart, I found the diaphragm was not attached. I wasn't sure if it might do that again, so I switched out the one from the fabric softener one which I never use anyway. Now it works like a charm, saving lots of $, time and frustration. I wish I could get new diaphragms to rebuild them (they're almost 30 years old and are drying out). But, maybe this will be just the fix. Thanks for your great video, best one out there!!
Thank you for the great video! I really appreciate that you are educating us!
EXCELLENT video, informative, helped me fix my leaking solenoid. THANK YOU!!!
Thanks for this video. Fixed my Samsung's washing machine input valve after watching this.
Thank you so much. Able to fix my washing machine. Perfect video.
THANKS! bought a new AEG, water always on, found a small bit of waxy stuff in the valve, cleaned it out, now it is running its first load, wife=happy, me=relieved
Hey thanks a lot from Colombia! Alberta Laundry Systems, you saved my washing machine!!!
Wow, very excellent instruction on the inlet valve indeed.
Very Good instruction and excellent instructor.
my little electrolux was often stuck in 'check the tap' mode meaning the solenoid is stuck, likely due to debris in my water from a tank on my boat..I had lots of stuff get clogged and I will check the filters and then pull the valves apart and do this repair. I'll bet thats it. I wish they'd describe the symptom which is to say check the tap and refuses to turn off or on or change settings on the control panel. Great video and I had to close my Microsoft browser and go to google chrome to sign in as my KZread user and get to comment here. THANKS for this good work! PS you should share how you get the door open when its in a stuck mode with an error. who would know you can just apply high force, like a crowbar, and the door will pop open without damage to the machine or the latch. This would be a lifesaver to folks with clothes stuck inside halfway through the cycle and they cant get them out. (really there should be an override for the electric door lock, dont we know it?)
Thanks for a great vid and explanation on how a water inlet valve works. I’m working on a Fisher Paykel dishwasher with water leaking past the inlet valve. I’m going to check the two valves carefully with the ideas you gave me. Thanks again.
Great video! Something tells me this is the common issue for slow filling of the machine.👍👍
Wow it worked. I knew the valve was sticking open but did not know how. I was able to take it apart and clean it up and bam no more leak. Thank you very much
Love my coffee too!
thank you so much for your teaching us how to fix the water vales

Very very usefull, Thank you. I was crazy why the water cant go thru even the coil works. Miniholes..
Thank you for a super tutorial video of how the valve works.
Thanks a lot. Both the theory and the quick fix tips are very helpful. I do appreciate your video.
Love Canadians, thanks mate!
I really appreciate this video it saved me money
now I know how to disassemble the valves after I watched another video on how to properly remove the assembly for my make/model machine
Thanks mate for detailed demo and explanation... I fixed my washing machine inlet volve issue.. 👍
Thank you. I wish the mechanics nowadays had a fraction of your knowledge sir.

sweet info! fl code on Whirlpool 2016 frontloader is like a pirate with a steering wheel belt buckle, its driving me nutzz arrggg! definitely worth a shot !! after the few others i have researched and tried already thx..
Great video. If there's a slow leak from the valve, how do you suggest diagnosing the source of the leak? Should i just take it apart, clean it off and hope the leak goes away?
Thanks for the info. I felt stupid after viewing your video, unknowing, have been replacing these and did throw them away.
Great video, well explained and presented
Awesome and very helpful video! Thank you so much. I was wondering how to control the water pressure on the inlet valves if possible? Especially powder wash number 4, which is the liquid detergent area. Some of our machines the pressure is so strong it leaks over the machine.

Those areas of the soap box have the valves restricted by a restrictor on the outlet of the valve. If you were to remove the valve & look at the outlet you would see it there. The restrictors are available for replacement. They do wash out of the valve body. The replacement part is 471 823495. They look like a tiny button that you press back into the outlet. The other alternative is to replace the complete valve.
Thank you!
Great video, helped me alot👍👍

Great vid bro
Thanks for the video, really useful.
thankyou Alberta Laundry this was a great help m
It worked for me. Thank you 😀
Excellent video, however not all parts are created equal. The coils on mine were a very tight fit. I got the first one off ok, but when trying to remove the 2nd, the plastic housing that it sits over just snapped off. It certainly didn't slide up nice and easy like it did in this video - this is definitely not a criticism of the video, just a precaution for anyone trying to do the same. The inlet valve is about 6.5 years old and musn't be great quality as I also tried to remove the filter where the inlet hose connects and the clips snapped basically just by looking at them. General question: can the solenoid itself fail resulting in the piston not raising and therefore not letting the water in?
Hello I checked this, all good but inside of plastic unit are two small red screens that you don't show if they clogged water can not flow threw
Thank you, great video, now i know how it works
tanks sr good job...
just adding ,, for seasonal use machines in freezing climates ,, the water trapped in the chamber above the diaphragm is very difficult to drain, if it freezes it does not always crack the valve but it will distort the shape of the plastic valve body when if freezes and expands in there.. this changes critical internal tolerances that allow proper operation of the valve mechanism. if this happens you have to replace the valve assembly itself as it leak through or refuse to open . .. I found I had to disassemble remove the diaphragm ,,, drain and resemble at the end of the season or I risked a bad valve at the startup next season.. also be aware these valves trap water in the inlet piping that needs to be drained end of season.
Thank you so much.. The solenoid must read >500 but

Wow, this video is especially useful for me since I have a 15 yo maytag atlantis 220v and the water inlet valve is no longer available. Rather than taking a chance on disassembling it, I ordered a 110v valve on amazon that looks identical to mine and I will swap the solenoids. I only wish I could find the correct 220v solenoids, I would replace those too.
Thanks very very much you are one of the best

Hi Alberta Laundry Systems. Sadly it looks like more recent Indesit/Hotpoint 'electrovalves' may have have been glued/welded on assembly. If you can see a matt white surface in the gap where the thread should be then it will not be unscrewing any time soon!
Thanks al lot. It was the help which i was finding since more than one month. It really helped. Sir could you please help me in resolve of another problem in Samsung 9KG woble with PCB DC92-01449C. one few minutes of run, machine automatically drain water and due to low water level 4E code is generated. What are the reasons. please help
Well Dan
great!!! you saved my money :)
Thank you very much sir it worked for me sometimes a tiny hole means a lot 👍
Do you have such a good lecture on pressure switch of Samsung wobble washing* machine
I have LOW pressure, water, is it possible to mod the valve to increase the flow rate, your explanation of the valve operation is very good, but can I make it flow better with low pressure, drill the plunger hole bigger?
How reliable the valve is after repairing? Taking down the valve takes some efforts, the new valve is less than $20 for my dishwasher. I knew I could repair it but I was not sure how long the old one would last.
I would like to know if this valve is also called and fill or mixing valve and if it is the only cause of hot water not filling my machine. I have already tested the hoses, the filters in them and those in the fill valve. Could it possibly be the switch at the top of the machine? Also, does this technique work on 10 year Huebsch washing machines or do you have another video for this problem?
Thanks ALS, my 14 yr old whirlpool is leaking about 2 litres of water into the drum overnight. I took off the pipes of both valves and saw that the hot water one was dripping so I took out the single hot water valve and inspected it but didn't realise that it could be taken apart. I have already ordered the £45 part ($58) but once it arrives I will dismantle the old one and see if I can fix it first before breaking the seal on the new part. Will let you know how I get on.

@@Lawknee when I dismantled the valve, which was easy, the rubber disc crumbled in my fingers. This was the cause of the leak. After 14 years of constant use it didn’t really surprise me so I had to use the brand new one after all. Hope this helps.
GE washer 110 volt how can i have the repair kit for this valve like the seals and diaphragm iam from saudi arabia and now they stop 110 v so how i can order it from US and also senonade valve I bleave that all American old product can repairing all part without replace it
THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge. I need some help from the community :) Do the Encore (by Wascomat) washing machines use the same blue tip diaphragms as the other Wascomat machines?
Hello. Do you know how to reduce the quantity of water of a wascomat with respect to the cicle of Delicate? I put the knob in delicate and the prewash continius. A person said me that the knob in delicate eliminate the prewash. (The Delicate in some washer machines is in the same place that letters Perm press.) I want to quit the cicle of prewash and let only the wash cicle.
Good to repair at home and saves money
Great video - thanks for showing us the inside of the valve. I am wondering if the center hole that is closed by the plunger can close up over time? My cold inlet is working but slow. The micro holes and the center hole are completely clean and the diaphragm is also clean and looks to be in good condition. The center hole is about #55 drill size most of the way but right at the end where the plunger seats it closes down to a much smaller hole #70. Again, the hole is clean. What size should the hole be on a new valve?

Replaced my incoming dual valve with a 'Robinson' replacement. Will not open to allow water flow. A. Im pretty sure i connected the wires as they were, ? Does it matter? B. Could it be a board issue. If so, how do you diagnose, video? C. Do i need to reset Washer after getting an H F code, due to flow issue? D. What parts might keep the valves from opening? Any help is appreciated, Thank you!

Hard to tell what the problem is, sounds like there may be no power to the valve. Have you checked the incoming voltage? Is the replacement valve the correct voltage? I am unfamiliar with the HF code - we specialize in Electrolux Professional equipment which is a different company than Electrolux (consumer). The valve theory is identical however.
Could you pease give me a hint on how to fix the following problem: when my washing machine is on, its solenoid valve is always on (it's humming so it's powered all the time) letting water inside and overfilling the machine no matter what operation I select, even if I select the centrifuge mode where the valve should definitely be closed and not powered at all? Could it be something wrong with the valve or with some other PCB elements? Thank you very mush in advance.
thanks; that is very good help
