if a fuse is blown you wouldn't have the amp pulling the extra watts to light the bulb... the fuse was what blew in the first place, in place of the bulb. An easier way is to check the main circuits with a diode checker... they should have the equivalent of many diodes with a checker... and if different on one side, there's your problem. The lightbulb trick on the capacitors is handy. i learned to fix these on my own as well... but you learn more short cuts when you have done it many times, learn from others and read about troubleshooting.
