Best and most accessible example I've seen of how to repair a small area of torn drywall. Thank you
Your repair is off to a pretty good start. The reason why you have to “seal off” the damaged drywall paper is because if you apply mud over unsealed torn paper it will absolutely bubble the brown paper underneath the white paper. Ask me how I know. I’ve always used Bullseye shellac out of a can. If you have a small area just use a foam brush. If you have a larger area use a non-foam 1/4” nap roller cover. The shellac will eventually attack the foam brush, so work with either depending the size of the repair. I usually do two coats. Use a fan and pop a window if your repair area is large. I use a gray scuff pad In between the two coats, maybe 20 minutes apart. I use 320 sandpaper before the first coat of mud. 8” is the smallest knife I use. Last coat is applied with a 10” or 12” knife depending on the condition of the rest of the wall. After a real light sanding, prime & paint. You’ll never know it was damaged.

Yes, shellac based primer is the way to go to seal the raw paper to prevent bubbling. Flashing may be a problem depending on the sheen and how the light hits the wall.
Thank you for taking the time to Show us how to do this!!! It’s been driving me crazy!!
I haven't caught your videos in a while man. I'm glad to see you're still doing content. I've always enjoyed watching you man. Much love and respect brother 👊
Thank you for your video. We just moved into our rental, which was trashed by our tenants. Come to find out, it's impossible to take off silicone on drywall. It cost me so much money to try and repair it myself. So your video helped me do it the right way. Thank you.
I didn't know about putting on primer first before the hot mud... excellent tip. Thanks 👍

Simple and very informative video! I just removed an extended shelf of a banjo which peeled the drywall. This video provided the basics on how to fix the drywall and so forth. Greatly appreciate sharing your knowledge with a new homeowner and DIYer! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks was very helpful
I had a crappy peel & stick wallpaper that tore up my walls so this is helpful. I only used a 10x10 square to test it luckily but ugh such a pain.
thanks for this great video. Will try it and let you know!

Great video. I am a female DIYer and need to know is it ok for me to use premixed joint compound. It's a small area and I wanted to just to premixed. If so any recommendations and how long before it dries then I can sand. Thanks!
Thank you for this!!!

@@FixThisHouse I've just started getting more confident in doing home improvements/projects myself and your videos have been really helpful! Thank you for keeping them short and to the point without all of the added filler. I'll be tuning in regularly :)
I going to do this for my apartment walls.

Hi from Allen
My daughter in law used alien tape to hang balloons on my wall (my idea 😅) and it ripped some paint. This was very helpful. It will be a while to fix it but at least I know how now. Thanks!! 😊
What about when you have natural color drywall? It just peeled off but don’t want paint over it just trying to blended with the undamaged drywall
I heard from another video, a gentleman who's a drywall professional that these "hot mud" that he refers to does not sand easily as the product suggest. Just wondering if you had that experience with this product. Thanks.
Great. Can you show us how to texture once you've sanded

Great question Peggy! I’ve made a few videos on how to texture on my drywall Playlist section but it’s for bigger projects. I’ll make a video on how to texture on smaller jobs. Please stay tuned! Also when you get a chance please email me 🙏🏽😊: fixthishouse1@yahoo.com
Hello my friend, would you recommend this product to walls with much larger exposed drywall, say 2 sq ft? Thanks.
