Awesome! I already had a piece of pvc. Took me all of 5 minutes to take it apart, measure and cut the pvc and reassemble. Thank you for posting this!!

Good. However, why do you need to take this as much apart? Just take off the bottom clip and slide the cylinder out. Leave each part attached to the base and the chair. Split the pipe and put it back again. That will do as well. No hammers or burners needed.

Never mind the repair. A friend once replaced it with Bilstein/spring/shock setup. More importantly, who did the music? It's exceptional acoustic work. Applaud.

Awesome idea to remove the gas end from the chair bracket (Heating process)... Almost saw 4 videos before this but no one showed heating process... just happy by re-installed new hydraulic cylinder in my chair... thank you for the posting

It seems that the up and down funcion won't work anymore. It will stay on one hight. Am I right about that? What I am looking for is how to fix it, meaning how to make it go up and down again.

You are correct; no height adjustment. You can’t repair it. You have to buy a new one.

when chair lose the height adjusting; it means that there is no gas inside the cylinder so no problem to give some heat, I guess.

The bearing and the clip broke for me. Can't find replacement parts in Amazon India. I checked gas lifts ok Amazon and they seem to come with the steel clip at the bottom.

Fire? Dangerous, those gas cylinders do explode.

And now you wont be able to adjust your height good.

There is a much simpler fix... Just give the shaft a light clean, then spray WD-40 on it.
