How To Repair A Whirlpool Washer with PF Fault Code

In this video, I show how to diagnose and repair a Whirlpool washer that is displaying the dreaded PF fault code. The PF code indicates that during the onboard controller's self check mode, it detected a fault in the power supply voltage to the controller.
A quick voltage test at the electrical outlet showed that only 108v AC was present, instead of the required 120-125v, thus triggering the PF code. A month earlier, the Whirlpool wall mount, combination microwave/oven began displaying the PF code, and also would no longer work. A quick inspection of the breaker panel on the residence revealed what was happening.

Low voltage like that, called "brown-outs" will damage sensitive electrical components

No, I'm sorry, but I don't. If it's common to the machines, maybe a search here on YT, or on Google will get you some info to help you repair it.

I believe that means the control board has failed. They are not that expensive, and you can find them on ebay. Use your machine's model number to look up the parts diagram via Google, and then put the part number for board into ebay. The board for this machine was only going to be $70. The board is easily replaced. Simply remove the screws from the back of the machine, that hold the lid on, and pull the lid rearward about a 1/2". Lift the lid off, and you have access to the interior of the machine. Thanks for watching!
