mine started a tiny tiny leak at the same spot as well, and its brand new. I put some rtv there to "plug" it. its worked so far. I had to remove the engine and transmission multiple times in the last year, if I never have to do it again it will be too soon.

These kinds of leaks are the worst. Just small enough that it's not affecting the car, but big enough that it creates a mess. Roar! :)

Good informative video. I believe Fel-pro sells a complete gasket set for the T-5.

Paul Cangialosi (the undisputed T5 expert) says no gasket set is needed, just some good 'ol Anaerobic Gasket Maker and you're good to go. :)

Great job Andy. I'm in the process of changing from a C-4 to a T-5 in a 66 Mustang and your videos are extremely informative. Thanks!

lol... my tailshaft leak was the seal plug on my yoke... don't shove the driveshaft into the transmission... it could bump the seal.. it is just a frost plug...

Good job! I lost that stupid ball-bearing for two hours when i did mine. Curious what you think of upgrading the aluminum main drive gear bearing retainer with a steel one while the T5 is out of your car.

I'm mixed on that retainer. I don't know enough about the loads it sees with the power I make and how I drive to know if upgrading it is worth it. :)

@@AndyKruseChannel I'm going to do it next time my transmission is out (I have a small output seal leak so it's on my list, but not a priority). Ford phased out the aluminum unit for the steel one for a reason. And the new one is like $50 and a four-bolt job. Can't really go wrong if your T5 is already out. But it's probably not worth doing if you're not experiencing any binding and have no plans to drop the transmission.

@@ML-dl1cp I haven't had any binding issues, but then again, I put about 1k miles a year on this car, so that may not be long enough to notice subtle issues creeping up. You probably already know, but make sure you properly shim the new bearing retainer. :)

How much power do you think a built T-5 could handle? I know the standard T5 is rated for about 300ft or torque. I'm piecing T5 together for my car and wondering about your T5 build. Any problems other than the small leak? BTW nice work!

The best guy to ask is Paul Cangialosi, he built T5s for road racing where they're putting down more power and are harder on the drivetrain than I am. I've made a lot of the upgrades he recommends, so I'm probably good as long as I don't spend my weekends doing 5k clutch drops. :)

tons of people run t5's behind a 347 like Andy does. new ones, which are t5z's handle 330-350ft. pounds and 450hp. like Andy said, as long as you aren't dumping the clutch constantly you'll be fine. plus you can get beefier gears and components to make it handle quite a bit. what are your power goals?

    @@bofa83 I've got a 67 Mustang FB with a fresh 331 roller. I'm moving away from the built C-4 to a T5. I'm making around 400-425 and still tuning the Sniper EFI. I'm running a 9" with 3:89 gears.

@@jpmendoza138 I noticed you said “built” t5. A built t5 can handle a lot. There are kits that make them capable of up to 600ft pounds, but they are pricey.
