This kind of repair is exactly what I appreciate. I found this video because I was trying to not put too much money into a saw that only has sentimental value. I'm going to give it a try, hopefully I have as much patience as you do. Ha! The only thing I may do is put in a new set of rings.

That's how I learned what I did about saws as a boy...people would bring me stuff they didn't want and I would go to town on fixin them. Daddy couldn't afford to buy 2 chainsaws...so he told me if I wanted one I'd have to get one on my own..and that started my quest into chainsaws and created a monster in me that has lasted until now...and I started in 1978 on my journey and STILL ain't quenched that thirst! And I thought I was the only one that used a "wallpaper knife" one chainsaws...maybe I'll get as good as "THE ' 'HOPPER" One day if I keep at it! Love your vids. Hopper!

this is a rare information of repairing piston, nowaday people just go buy brand new piston and cylinder and cost money, but this is repairing for free by cost of your freetime and patience. I didnt know about this. I thought once the piston is destroyed and scored, it will never work again, now I learnt something new that it can be resurrected, depend how bad the damage is. thanks buddy, this information will be forever remembered. keep it up, look forward to watch more of your old videos and new ones. take care and god bless you.

It’s nice learning new ways to do things! I’ve used dry ice to make the folded over aluminum more brittle or soften it up with a torch or oven/BBQ. I would mostly use rat tail files and the flat file with torch tip cleaners. I also had a stash of broken piston rings I used. I’ve definitely learned some new techniques watching this video! I’ve only done one 2 stroke piston but a few little 4 stroke 5hp and a few small diesel and gas tractor engines.

I’m in this exact boat now. 700 cylinder. Seized…. However not a lean seizure. It appears somebody left the saw sitting on its side , and water came in through the muffler . Fly wheel bearing packed with rust , and the rings are rusted to the piston. No cyclinder damage so to speak other than normal west and and no piston damage. I’ve been soaking the piston , to attempt to free the rings…. However with the corrosion I doubt they’ll be useable in the event they come out. I bought the saw for the oil resevoir because I busted it on another 700. But would love to save the piston and rings out of it

Quote from New Life newsletter: Unclutter Your Mind If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength; but wisdom [to sharpen the axe] helps him succeed [with less effort]. Ecclesiastes 10:10 A great way to keep your mind sharp and clear is to do things when they need to be done. When you think of something you must do, get to work on it as quickly as possible, and then continue working on it until it is finished. Tasks which you put off until later, or which you start and then put off finishing, will have the effect of clogging your thoughts. If you regularly and consistently procrastinate, your mind will soon become so filled with thoughts of what needs to be done that there will be little room for anything else. Clear out all those “need to dos” from your thinking by actually getting them done. Rather than worrying about them over and over again in your mind, do them once and be finished. Free your mind to recognize new opportunities, to develop new insights and to focus clearly on the business at hand. Father in heaven, it seems the longer our to do lists are, the harder it feels to get started. Help us to stop wasting time over thinking, and just get started. Help us to put off procrastinating and do what needs to be done. In Jesus name, AMEN! If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.

I have 4 394xp saws that I worked for years and they are all 1 hundred percent OEM and they will stay that way . I have had good luck with honing 2 cylinders. The pistons are now very hard to come by.

I use a hacksaw file to do what you did there with that triangle file. I, too, have done a few saws like that and re-used a scored piston. I always used a new set of rings, though...I haven't tried re-using the old scratched rings yet..might in a pinch, some of those thin rings are hard to get. I know you are experienced, but be super careful and respectful of those little utility knives..all it takes is one slip...I have a nice chunk of meat missing from my left middle finger thanks to one of those things suddenly "slipping" on me...

Quote from New Life newsletter: Getting Perspective Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. Philippians 4:6-7 Look up at the stars on a clear night. You are not looking at some illusion. They are really there. The vast magnificence of the universe is not “out there,” it is real and it is here. You are right in the middle of it. Though your problems of the moment may seem overwhelming, stop and ask yourself, “Compared to what?” Consider that the sun will rise tomorrow. The seasons will continue to change. The light from distant stars will continue to stream across the vast reaches of space, to sparkle before your eyes. Are your challenges really insurmountable? If they seem to be, then enlarge your perspective. You have plenty of room to do that. You have an entire universe against which to consider those challenges. Back off far enough, and they will appear very tiny. Look at a big enough picture, and you’ll find the courage, energy and inspiration to move on through those seemingly overwhelming problems. Father in heaven, today we are learning to see our problems differently. We know that there isn’t a problem too vast for You, not a challenge we worry about that You can’t help us with. Remind us, when we face trials that You are Emmanuel, God WITH us! In Jesus name, AMEN! The difference between a mountain and a molehill is your perspective.

The Truth Is Lying lips are extremely disgusting to the Lord, but those who deal faithfully are His delight. Proverbs 12:22 Truth is one of the most effective tools available to you. When you respect, honor and abide in the truth, you put yourself on the side of strength and power. You can try to cover it up, explain it away, run from it or rationalize against it, but in the end if you go against the truth you will lose. Lies, deceit, half-truths, rationalizations, and justifications must constantly be defended and maintained, and will eventually crumble. The truth remains the truth whether it is defended or not. It often can seem convenient or expedient to deny the truth. But when you deny the truth you put yourself in a position of weakness. Making a habit of that can drain your energy, not to mention your credibility. Put yourself on the side of the truth, though it may be inconvenient or even painful. There will surely come a time when you’ll be glad you did. Father in heaven, we live in a world that often rewards lies and half-truths, and we ask for Your help to stand out and live differently. Help us to be bold enough to tell the truth and be people who are honest, even when and especially when it is difficult. In Jesus name, AMEN! Better to be slapped with the truth, than kissed with a lie.

LORD of Hosts “LORD of Hosts” occurs 245 times and "LORD God of hosts" occurs 29 times in the KJV Bible. What is a host? According to Dr. Strong: tsâbâʼ, tsaw-baw'; or (feminine) צְבָאָה tsᵉbâʼâh; from H6633; a mass of persons (or figuratively, things), especially reg. organized for war (an army); by implication, a campaign, literally or figuratively (specifically, hardship, worship):-appointed time, (+) army, (+) battle, company, host, service, soldiers, waiting upon, war(-fare). Gen 1:26 KJV “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” Some say God, the Father, is speaking to Jesus, and the Holy Spirit when He used the plural pronouns ‘us’ and ‘our’ in the above verse. Is the Father and the Holy Spirit going to be made man as Jesus was? No. Jesus IS God. God Said, “Let US make man in OUR image.” God is not schizophrenic. All the hosts of heaven were there. You were there. I was there. Gen 2:1 ‭KJV‬‬ " Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished." No more ‘hosts’ created. Exo 12:40-41 ‭KJV‬‬ “Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.” Mat 1:23 KJV “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Jesus is EMANUEL. You are you. I am me. It is given to MAN once to die, and then the judgment. Then, you understand the consequences of eternal judgment. It seems pretty self-evident to me, “the LORD of hosts” is the lord of “the hosts of the LORD”, of whom were finished being created on the 6th day in the creation timeline. Refer to Gen 2:1 above. Deuteronomy‬ ‭18‬:‭15‬-‭19‬ ‭KJV “The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; according to all that thou desiredst of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not. And the LORD said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.” Jhn 14:7-10 KJV “7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.” Do the angels have access to the redemptive blood of Jesus? Consider the following 2 verses: Heb 9:23 “It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.” Rev 22:9 “Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.” (This was the angel’s response to John worshipping him.) God is One Deu 6:4-5 KJV “4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God [is] one LORD: 5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Zac 14:9 “And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.” Mar 12:28-33 KJV “28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment. 31 And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. 32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: 33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love [his] neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 1Ti 2:5-6 KJV “5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” 1Ti 3:16 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” One God Owns All Souls Eze 18:4 KJV “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” ‭‭Jhn 1:11-14 KJV “He (God) was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own (see Eze 18:4 above - ‘His own’ are all souls) received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” If I had to identify one part of God that is the Word, I would choose the Holy Spirit. But, I’d rather just say it is the Word of God. God’s words have power. Consider that we will be held accountable for our idle words. Mat 12:36-37 KJV “36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” Jhn 4:21-24 KJV “21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.” Note: The phrase, “God the Father” appears in the Bible (13X) only after He fathered Jesus. And, the prhase, "God our Father" appears 11 times in Paul’s epistles. However, the phrase, “Sons of God” is used five times in the Old Testament and six times in the New Testament. I am thinking just maybe it was this kind of mind set in this video along with a unmovable love for THE Lord God our Father I see these videos of i think pakistan and them guys fix what they have or they dig a hole in the ground melt down some metal cast a new one they do all this with the most basic tools mostly just tools they made there self Dont think what they do is not as good or better than ordering a new one!! Now what we do now days is throw away make nothing for ourselves thinking its not possible or has no value to do so My name is Ben i am not the brightest of people by no stretch of the imagination so i ask any one who reads this Is my thoughts the truth or just simple minded nonsense?
