I worked for more than 6 hours on a very important customer PC that wasn't backed of for a long time and had to run the chkdsk 6 times before the bootrec /fixmbr let me get to the login picture just to realize that my customer had given me a wrong PC and the one I was supposed to fix was OK. However, my time was not spent in vain, because thanks to you, I have now learned how to fix this kind of problem, so once again from the buttom of my heart: THANKS!!!!!

THINGS TO KNOW: 1. Windows may not always be located on the "C:" drive. 2. System registry is no longer backed up in the RegBack folder since Windows 10 version 1803. 3. My pc is still dead and I'm going to use Windows installation media tool on a flash drive to boot it up and then system restore it.

Dude first one worked perfect. You saved me from having to buy a new laptop. Thanksssss

Tried everything, did not work. It didn’t register a Window installation either. My Lenovo (D:) drive is full, but Window is on C:. Don’t know if that has anything to do with anything.

Aniruddh Chakravorty, for me it did not work until the very end when I input the regback command. I recommend following all of the steps in this video. Hopefully it works for you. If it does I recommend creating a restore point

Scott B None of the steps in the video worked! Commands were useless for me it went straight into boot loop of startup repair 0xc000021a. Gave the pc to servicing they cleaned it up with blower and restored it back in time and it's fixed now.

It does that every time I use system restore after reinstalling windows 10 without updating the drivers and selecting modules installer.

it didn't work for me. the last option - the regback folder is empty :-(

Regback automatic registry backups have been disabled in recent versions of Win 10. It can be enabled manually after you repair this bsod and boot your system just google enable regback... If all else fails try booting from install media and running SFC offline, Just google SFC offline.

It's because Windows isn't saved of c: sometimes. First type c: and press enter, then type dir and press enter. Check if in the list it says Windows if it's does then idk what the problem is. If it doesn't type d: and press enter, then type die and press enter. If that says Windows then your windows is saved in the d drive. Follow what the vid says except when typing c you replace it with d. I hope you solve it!

Mine says you need to sign in as an administrator to continue but theres aren't any administrator accounts on this pc

when i put bootrec /rebuildbcd it said that i didn't have any windows installations

when i try the "Copy *.* .." it says the sym cannot find the file specified and theres 0 files copied, what do i do? please help

I know it's late but just for the sake of new victims.... Make sure to leave a space before the last two dots (Copy *.* ..) and not (Copy *.*..) That's how I fixed that particular problem

Step one said 128 hour so I try step 3 Every code in step three work but last of all this code did not work (Copy *.* ..) please tell another way why the last code did not work

first option did work perfect for me even when i couldn't type in a user password. whitch obviously was put in by the dealer where i got the pc from years back. mine runs windows 8.1 what is causing this failure? is it a dying harddisk? (did not see any bad sectors in the dosbox when i typed the chkdsk thing) or is it just the update process that didn't fully completed as an incidental thing to get used to in the cumming future again sometimes. infact the error did occur after the PC asked me to restart to install some updates as it normally does sometimes. but this time it failed causing this situation. thanks. TechFixIT !!!

Instead of c try d or e in the commands and see if CMD can find your boot files, and about the symbol try to find out in google how to type it on your keyboard's language, the problem is some regions don't have that key while my US keyboard does have it😣

What to do if you get premissions error when doing this? It says it is cmd with admin premissions, but still wont execute some of these steps. + my C: drive is located at G:, is this normal?

Sometimes it changes your drive letter like you say but it goes iback to normal once you fix it, if you get access denied keep typing the commands that works for some people

If you mess up the third method is you computer doomed?
