Great glad it helped. I hired one recently and same process. Hiring a van from a local provider today as need it for overnight, that's costing me £95 for 1 1/2 day hire.

That's amazing. Didn't even think that this was a similar system in other places. Enjoy the drive.

Beware of the fuel situation. I hired one once and it had well under a quarter tank when i got it so i needed to go and fuel. added 10miles to my hire and 20mins as there are no Shell stations nearby. I didn't notice in time and the added journey made me late in delivering it back so i also was charge extra. Next time I hired it was also under a quarter tank and rather than face the long drive to the nearest Shell station i went to the nearby asda and paid for the fuel myself. I was pretty unhappy with the situation both times.

That's not good. I've only used them a few times and been lucky that the last person has been kind with the fuel levels.

how do you lock the van during the hire if the key is chained to the inside? I might be hiring one as I live over the road from a B&Q in Sunderland. I am needing to take items to London and Manchester so I will be using the van over night. I dont intend on sleeping in the van and I probably want to get a walk around to a shower and toilets.

The doors lock and unlock via the code panel on the windscreen. I'm assuming the code system is an immobiliser too to stop people just smashing the window.

ah get you. thanks for clearing that up. I have used similar from Enterprise and co-wheels. they give you a swipe card to keep and you book a vehicle online, swipe the corner of the screen, or in the way of enterprise, you can unlock it from your mobile phone app. But during the hire, you have to use the keys to lock and unlock and only lock it with the card or the app at the end of the hire. How do Hertz charge you? Do you pay for the rental period upfront, do your drive, end your hire and then charge you for the mileage after the hire? or are they like enterprise where you book the vehicle and pay nothing. collect the vehicle and have your hire. then you get the bill for the hire and the mileage the next working day after the hire and pay in one payment?

I think they took a prepayment Auth then charged for it all pretty much as you log out of using the system.

I used it a few months ago successfully, i now want to use it again but it won't accept my password. I got them to email me a new password and it still doesn't work. It says i need to create a profile again. I tried calling them, i was waiting for 1 hour and 20 minutes for someone to pick up but nobody ever did so i hung up. Absolutely terrible serice! Like i haven't got anything else better to do with my time then creare more accounts and phone then 😂

Yes. Goes on the invoice. They probably get a discounted rate that way.

Your van rental service is poor at best I have 2 pending payments in my account waiting to be returned to me for days now as you denied me a rental at last moment because my licence is register to my mums address ? What makes the difference I have stayed there for years u need to be more clear or I would have went to enterprise now have to sit and wait on the refund

Hertz 247 THEY DO NOT HAVE MANY CHOICEs OF CAR your Mileage price is too much like really £0.30 each mile you drive plus £60 a day for HONDA ! Really for Honda jazz or Honda Civic you are charging £60 !! Very funny price !! Only dumb people will pay £60 a day for a Honda car please add better cars so we won’t mind paying £60 a day. Don’t charge for like Honda £60 Also Give at least first 100 miles free drive if you going to charge £0.30 for each mile and £60 a day. FUNNY PRICE I WOuld rather go TO Others CAR CLUB INSTEAD.

Yes, it times out after a while and you need to put it in to enable the immobiliser or unlock the door.

Not 100% but I don't think it took anything until the final bill, so the pre auth was similar to a hotel booking where if you use the mini bar they can charge you. I think everything is calculated on the return so they can include the mileage.

Thanks, Hertz should have paid you for the promo better than their video.

my son is just about to hire one doe he also have pay a huge deposit of £200 etc with the hire for 2 hours etc

its all good untill you have to put fuel in, the fuel card will not work and you will be left to pay for fuel twice, go to a proper van hire

Invoice in video shows 11am to 3pm which is not "a couple of hours or "three" as said in the video. It's 4. I have booked a Ford Transit Adblue van with Herz 24/7 today for 3 hours and it will cost me £35 plus 30p per mile fuel charge. That's a good deal - perhaps there's a better one somewhere else but I couldn't find one. A Man and Van quoted me £125 and a van hire from another company (Sixt) quoted £200 plus (for the day).

Just returned my van, had it for 1 1/4 hours and only charged for 1 hour. Travelled 15 miles in total and the complete charge was £19.00.. Bargain!!

For short trips like this it's a great service. Anything longer we hire from a local firm on a flat rate.

Anyone who's used this service knows it's a rip off. This guy is obviously after some free perks

🤣 not at all. I've used it a few times since, I do use a local van hire when I can but if I need a van for a short period and out 9-5 hours that the local van hire is open I'll use them. Hertz did come to me with a free hire, but I never used it. Thanks for watching though. 👍
