    Depends on how long you'll stay. May not make sense to pay agent fee. Also always ask to see proof of home ownership and sign. A lease. You can then take your lease to nearby notary and confirm with them who the real owner is

    Thank you for this video lol. I was looking at rental apartments in Istanbul and there is really no average prices some can be very affordable but still nice looking but some can be comparable to here in Hawaii. Also nice shirt btw

  • @Livingabroadalex

    @Livingabroadalex

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you! I saw the maple leafs and had to buy the shirt 😏 You're absolutely right about not having an average price in Istanbul. There is a big prices range. Depending on how close you are to the water, or the city centre. Sometimes they're even more expensive in Downtown Toronto. But as a whole, you can find some really good prices if you don't care for some of that small things. So it really depends on your life needs. For me I just wanted to be close to cafes and restaurants and in a progressive and young demographic. I had another apartment much closer to the water but the seagulls woke me up very early every morning. So I moved 😁

    Thank you. I did the same for your channel 😊 There are public washrooms at parks and near the subway stations where you pay one or two Lira you can use your Istanbul transportation card or just pay cash. Also some cafes and restaurants like KFC or other chains like McDonald's have washrooms. Maybe just grab an ice cream and use the washroom there.

    Thank you Alex. What a great video! Explained many vague points for me. But there is another problem, let's say I used sahibinden to rent an apartment, apparently (in my case, for staying a year) I need to first check the document to make sure it is not commercial property and also register it with something called a noter. would it be possible or should I use another method?

  • @Livingabroadalex

    @Livingabroadalex

    2 жыл бұрын

    You're welcome! I appreciate it 😊 When you say "staying a year" do you mean you'll be applying for a 1 year Tourist Visa? If so, then yes you need to have a 1 year rental contract and take to to a notary to have it notorized.

  • @Livingabroadalex

    @Livingabroadalex

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you again for the positive feedback. If you're going to rent through any place the owner or the agent will give you the one your contract when you make the deposit and agree to rent the place. Then you take that one year contract that's written and signed by you and the home owner, to your nearest public notary(just type notary into Google maps) and pay between 125TL and 200TL lira depending on where you go to have it notarized. Basically confirming that you are renting from the owner for that period of time.
