This is some great advice! The part about how I might have to pay 3 months rent is kinda scary to me. This is my first time renting.

I am new to America and will be renting soon I am very excited To have first home in America One of the question; what is standard tip for landlord? I check out two places for now and both say a tip is normal but I am embarrassed to ask as I don’t want to be thought of as fool

When you say personal references, do you mean family members or another adult that knows I am responsible to pay the rent for my first apartment?

Some good personal references could be close friends, a supervisor at work, or an advisor / teacher at school. Family members might also work, but sometimes they may be disallowed.

If you’re moving out from your parents place, I would just leave that field blank or put $0 and communicate that fact with your new prospective landlord.
