Im planning on going to limerick, but I thought housing issues are quite different compared to Dublin. I won’t be able to look for a house till I get there this just made me more anxious but thank you for so much info!

Hi Idara, I don’t think Limerick is as bad as Dublin with the housing crisis so I’d say you shouldn’t worry too much. Your best bet is to always start out with a student hostel then begin your search if you have no one to stay with. You’ll be fine ok. Best of luck with your search

Hi, thanks for watching. The documents you need would depend on the college you’re attending and you can start out with a hostel while you look for accommodation. There are a lot of student accommodation available, they’re just usually cheaper outside the campus. I hope you find a good one

Thanks for the tips. since you said we shouldn't pay any money till one has actually gone for a viewing, and also the person doesn't know anyone in Ireland to view it for them, what should they do

You’re welcome. If you have no one to view for you then you have to wait till you get here but you might also have to prebook a room in a student hostel so you can begin your search when you get here. I wouldn’t advise you to pay money to anyone without going for a viewing

What about buy an apartment in Dublin? We are a couple that want to buy an apartment in Diblin. We are foreign but want to make our lives there, but most of the time we found videos about renting only

what about new residents from other countries? We don't have all those documents , do you have any tips for people who are coming from other country but already have a job aligned ? Thank you

Hi Sara, if you’re just coming coming for a holiday, you won’t be able to legally work so naturally, you won’t have a few of those documents. In this case (holiday purposes) you can just book an Airbnb, a hotel or hostel before your trip and enjoy your stay. However, in a case where you are moving to Ireland with the purpose of working, you will definitely need to apply to get your PPS number through immigration, you will eventually get a bank account, etc. For proof of funds to show to a landlord, you will be able to show your payslips or account statement from the bank you were using in the other country as well as proof of employment as the case may be. This is to show them that you can pay the rent they are requesting for. Most landlords ask for these especially if you’re not applying through a sublet medium. If you’re subletting, you won’t need those cos the person letting the room or space out to you would have already presented their own documents to the landlord. They may however just as for ID or something. I hope this helps 😊❤️

It's crazy especially in Dublin. Have you tried applying for accommodation on daft.ie or on Roomigo? You need to look externally, not just within the university

Yes you can. Have you tried looking on Facebook market place or Roomigo? Someone might either be looking for someone to share a room with or have those en-suite rooms ready to rent out to people.

Of course you can. When I went for the viewing of my current place, this unit was still under construction. They just let me view a different unit

Go elsewhere. There's nothing here. And yes, if you're Irish citizen, you will have a PPS number. Don't expect the social to find your accomidation either, they have nothing. Asylum seekers/refugees escaping actual wars are living on the street here! Are you serious???
