I just got my drain out using this method, and it was very tight, I had to use enough force that I damaged my channel locks but it got the job done

You know I saw this video a couple weeks ago and today I did my first bathroom install and it took me forever to get that part out and now watching this video I realized I saw your video long time ago and just didn't retain the knowledge and dog on it I brought my channels but I didn't even use them that way It took me a long time to get the old one out but I'm excited It looks really nice no leaks and they're happy😅

The t was gone in mine because it was so old. I sawed it and twisted it out. Took less than 10 minutes. Just replaced it.

The easiest way to remove this is by cutting a couple slits with a dremmel and Voila!

Worked well bro, I used a broken breaker bar for more leverage and it came off in seconds.. Thx for the tip.

Yall some hatters if done correctly it is that ez! I just did mine right now also make sure that u hammer the soft hand grips of the channel locks into location and go slowly as your turning cuz if not that's how u screw up and break stuff

My channel locks broke the cross bar, had to cut the sides of thr the drain cover w a sawzall just a bit, and used a prybar as a wrench.

Any advice if your drain doesn’t have the cross bars? My drain has small channels across from each other about 1.5mm deep and 3mm wide. I just can’t get it to budge! Any tips appreciated!

I would cut a couple of grooves in the Outer ring with a dremel or cutoff wheel and then hammer it with a chisel or flathead screwdriver.

Yeah that's what that guy said. Had to remove a tub drain when it's already loose. You can undo it with your fingers😮

One is loose already and second it’s never that easy especially when some people use cheap putty that dries and causes it to lock up

What if those little things broke

Use oil unrust spray before learned the hard way lol,

It doesn’t always come out! You can crack your drain!

Clever tech tip.

This is how I've always done this until one day I bought an expansion plug to grip it

Been there done that ,appartment maint.

So thats how those channel locks get handles messed up. Lol

Now make a video where u’re removing an old drain shoe that has nothing to get a grip on😂

Just so you know, sometimes they literally need to be cut out...... I have had some that have destroyed the channel locks.....

I like how yours was loose before the pliers handle technique was used…

Don't bend your channel locks by prying something between the handles. Grip where both jaws meet with another channel lock or pipe wrench.

Hammer and chisel or flat head screwdriver. Dig in hitting it to the left to hopefully get it loosened

Bs! By the time you have to replace the tub drain the inner posts are no longer there.

I'm confident mine has like 60 years of corrosion caked all over it, gonna crack something

barbell drain tool is like less than ten bucks, put it in your tool box, or break cross bars and fight them.

It's already loose.the T breakes out even with the correct tool.a expanding tool might save them the cost of a plumber.but when it's all this welded together ,concider that if the trap snaps and there is no acsess ecept through the wall of a two story home.you might have just turned a twenty dollar over the old one investment into a plumber a stuco repair and a plumber.a grand at least.you don't fix this with a good pair of Chanel locks.you Will ruin those aswell.a dremel tool and small diamond blade and then a hack saw with no top bar going over it.anf you still might break the trap where the overflow and the p trap are just fitted together without being solid.water in drains is not a pressure fitted water tight strength.its gravity.seal and if it backs up it will leak.i love the dys vidios on the web..but watch more than one.im sure this works once in a while .but old plumbing is the hardest thing I've ever had to do.son of a plumber and thirty years as a bathtub refinishing contractor and kitchen and bath remodel.

Don’t do this. Spend a few bucks and get the tub drain tool. Or… take your chances.

The tub wrench tool cost 10 bucks Better than messing up those Chanel locks doing that

I did it and it keeps spinning and wont come out

When the cross is gone this doesn't work.
