I'm having a bit of trouble (and it could be ME.) I do exactly as your excellent narration dictates -- several times, and for some reason everything gets muted except the vocals. I will keep trying though. However, thank you for your soothing, straight-forward instructions.

@MrReggieLew Thanks 😀👍 That's strange... There is a S (solo) and M (mute) icon below each track, so just check that none of these are on (except the M icon on the vocal track, to remove the vocals).

@@IbandUK Thank you for your response. I have even deleted the app, and reinstalled it, just in case it was faulty. I have tried several times, but the same thing happens. I have even tried with different songs, just in case the songs were recorded without separated tracks. I will try again today. (we) will figure it out. Your instructions are solid and to the point.

@MrReggieLew The bandlab splitter (very basically) splits sounds based on sound frequencies. But here is a thought... If you have an acoustic guitar, try following my voice/guitar splitter video and see what happens... kzread.info/dash/bejne/d4JlqrWGe9PZnso.html If you haven't got an acoustic guitar, a piano or music keyboard (with speakers) should do instead. Another option... Record a drum track and vocals in BandLab, then download the song and try splitting that with the bandlab splitter.

@aesthetic_areeba_.2390 Tap on the projects folder icon (bottom right of home screen), Tap on your projects name, Tap on the download icon to the left of the studio icon (red icon with studio written on it). The share window will appear but your song will also Automatically download to your phones download folder... So just tap the top of the screen to close the share window. @YoungSingerRadio Thanks 😍👍 For Radio, save your songs as 16 bit 44.1 kHz WAV files (CD standard), so you really need to use the online (pc) version of BandLab (or Cakewalk) to download your songs as WAV files. Mp3 or m4a are poor quality and only really for personal use. Songs should also be Radio mastered, which very basically means not much bass / low frequencies and good quality Compressor fx. So at the very least, use the bandlab mastering (Clarity). Also, Radio prefer songs to be 3 minutes long, so if your songs are longer than 3 minutes, consider making a 3 minute version as well.

@SahandSafin-mh8mz Sometimes vocals are layered in the mix with some layers almost merging with other instruments, and these layers don't always get extracted by the bandlab splitter. You could try using the EZ EQ in BandLab with a minus gain to try and hide it.

How does the app know the difference between vocals, drums etc.?

@theimaginarygallery5935 Sound frequency patterns basically, then separates the sound frequencies based on these patterns. While bandlab have told me how much they like my channel, they don’t help or support this channel in any way, so my answer should be considered my opinion and not an official explanation.

I have a somewhat related question: when I play around with the mute/solo functions of Bandlab, sometimes I'm able to click on "S" for one track and it'll automatically mute every other track for my convenience. However, as time goes on and I switch the mute/solo toggles on and off, I don't know what happens but if I try clicking on "S" again, it'll just grey it out to become mute. I was wondering if you could make a video explaining what it means when the letters "S" and "M" mean when they're darkened / white in the different scenarios and how I could control it more easily in the future. Thank you!

@mamad504 Often guitars are panned away from each other in the mix, so you might try setting the pan knob all the way to the right or the left.

@mysweetpiano312 If the video is mp4, you can change the extension to m4a instead of mp4 and you can use the splitter to split the audio track of the video. The split audio will be separate from the video though, so you would need to use a video editing app if you wanted to use the split audio with the video (just remember to change the video name extension back to mp4).

Is splitter only available for Iphone users?

@hatdog6642 Hi, all my tutorials are done on my Android phone (Android 13), so it definitely is available on Android phones. I will check my old phone to see if it's available on older versions of Android. When you open the bandlab app, you should be able to click on the red plus icon at the bottom of the screen and then the splitter icon should appear (about half way down the screen). If not, make sure you have updated bandlab to the latest version (10.53.4).

It still plays the audio on the vocals for me help

@colwinmarks8642 The bandlab splitter tries to separate the sound frequencies of the vocals from the music. On songs where the music and vocals have not been properly frequency mixed, it's difficult to separate the vocals from the music. You can use a noise gate on a vocal track to remove background music (which may help on the split vocal track), vocals that still appear on a music track though can be hard to remove... Especially when panned and layered in the song mix.

@gainestonprod You can mute tracks by tapping on the mixer settings icon (bottom left of the screen) and then tapping on the m icon on the track header. To mute just a section of an audio track, slice the audio section, tap on the audio section, tap on the 3 dots icon on the popup menu, tap on Gain, then drag the dot on the line at the bottom of the screen all the way to the left and tap on the tick icon. Repeat but drag the dot to the middle point (0dB) to unmute the section. You would need to drag a midi section to a new track and mute the track to mute a midi section.

@user-ir8cu Hi, usually the splitter will shoot up to 60% and stop, well not actually stop... But while it usually takes just a few seconds to get to 60%, the next bit takes much longer... About 10 minutes longer (depending how busy the bandlab cloud servers are), sometimes longer. I cut out the 10 minute bit in my video(s)... I guessed no one wants to watch that blue screen for 10 minutes 🤔

@mapp4721 Sometimes, the mix of the song can make it hard for the app to separate the vocals cleanly. You could try saving the music part and try running this method on the music part again to see if it is able to remove the rest of the vocals.

So like how do i download the music afterwards
