Ok I see a lot of bad-mouthing here and I get it, but this worked for me. If anyone is here regarding Nintendo 3DS XL screws, then this works (but not right away). I had to drill a little into the screw (not enough to remove it, but enough to make the divot large enough to reach the edges). Then, the trick in the video works by having the divot closer to the edge so you can turn from the circumference of the screw. Good luck to y'all

I just got a similar set from iFixIt, and it managed to remove an extremely stripped screw in about as bad of a situation as you can possibly imagine short of the screw head being ripped off or something. Not only was it fully stripped (with zero visible notches), but I had made one ill-advised attempt to remove it using super-glue that just sealed it in there even further. But with a *lot* of elbow grease and the iFixIt extractor, used as described in this video (along the edge of the screw), I finally managed to remove it. Was a big relief, because I was fully expecting it not to work after making zero progress with any other method.

@@DARK_AMBIGUOUS If you have the sort of precision extractor tools in this video, he only real advice I can think of is that you'll probably have to press really hard while trying to turn the screw (and it can take a number of tries to find the right angle; I just kept trying to get a grip on the edge of the screw with the extractor until something worked). Otherwise you just have to turn to the left while aligning the notch in the extractor with the edge of the screw (which is now more like a circle due to being stripped), like shown in this video.

Just wanted to say that this works. Was getting ready to bad mouth this guy after trying and failing but I tried for a little more and it worked. I think this is actually the only video with this information that I could find. My screws were especially fucked because I I thought stripping them more with my drill would help me get them out with a different tool. That didn't work. You might need to fiddle around for a while but you'll get the screw out with this technique. For what it's worth I was trying to open the bottom of a macbook air from like 2015. Good luck!

@@Prxsumo Yes, I did. I first bought the Moody tool kit mentioned in this video, and tried following the tips here, but I just couldn't get the screw to move. I then tried another stripped screw tool which DID work for me: Alden 4507P Grabit Micro Broken Bolt Extractor 4 Piece Kit - Small Bolt and Screw Remover. It runs about $35 at Amazon, and worked like a charm. I was so glad to be rid of the stripped screw so I was able to install my upgraded hard drive.

EDIT....I watched to the end, just as I promised! I've ordered the tools, I'm going to wait for their arrival before proceeding with my Frankenstein Idea. *** Here's my original comment, which I'd still love your opinion on! I've a question, my issue is removing 2 very small, badly stripped screws from plastic. Specifically the plastic head of my Dyson vacuum where the motor sits! Out of 4, 2 are stripped extremely bad! So here's my question, it quite literally has been brewing in the back of my head, but before attempting I'd like your input ("Lady, you're crazy, Buy yourself a new vacuum or it just might work!") I'm thinking of taking some JB WELD Steel reinforced epoxy putty, applying it to the screws (after appropriate prepping) & before dry use a "bit" to imprint a new "head". Allow to cure for 48-72 hrs. then using hand torque only remove with the same bit. I'm sure you're busy, I'm simply hoping you can point me in the right direction. Thank you... Now I'll finish the video!
