How to Remove Scratches from Apple Watch Titanium Edition in Natural Titanium Only

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video Josh reveals his method for how to remove scratches from his Apple Watch Titanium Edition model in natural titanium.
Please note that this technique should NOT be used to remove scratches from a Space Black Titanium Apple Watch as it will remove the surface colouring. This method is only for titanium Apple Watch scratch removal.

Not having a handle on how to remove scratches was my biggest fear with the move to the Titanium Apple Watch. It was super easy to remove scratches with the stainless and a Cape Cod polishing cloth. You’ll love the watch Andrew! Thanks for the message!

As someone that has used and abused a Stainless Series 3 since release, and now is going to order the new Series 7 in Titanium once it’s available to order, finding this video among all of the unboxings and other clickbait is pure gold. I never comment on or upvote videos, but this one was so super helpful in my decision that I just had to reach out and say thank you. The potential for scratches was really my only concern, and being heavy into fitness, I really wanted the lighter weight of the titanium without having to go down to the aluminum and sacrifice the tougher sapphire screen. So thank you so much for putting my mind at ease!

Enjoy your new titanium Apple Watch when you get it!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has liked this video! It turns out trying to grow a channel is tough, but this has been a fun way for us to do something during the global pandemic. Regarding the Titanium Apple Watch, it has been a great watch and I personally prefer it to the stainless steel models I’ve owned in the past. The titanium does get scratches over time but they’re easily removable using techniques like the one I describe in this video. One year now with my Titanium Apple Watch and I can say that it has constantly cleaned up better than my previous stainless steel models. I think because the titanium is harder than stainless steel, scratches just don’t get that deep. Whereas with my stainless Apple Watches in the past even polishing didn’t remove the deeper scratches. If you’re on the fence about a purchase between titanium or stainless, I say go for the titanium! Thanks again for watching, and please don’t forget to subscribe :) But most of all stay safe and stay healthy.

Thank you for the advice in this video! Since it has been almost 6 months since this video has been published, have you noticed any changes to the watches visuals in either the brushed look and feel or any discoloration? I know that Apple says they put the coating on the watch to prevent a patina from developing on the titanium of the watch and I was just curious if you had experienced any patina? Also, can you visually tell the difference between areas that are polished with the sponge and not? I am really considering getting the titanium watch, but I would only want to get it if I knew there was a way to safely eliminate any scratches that I end up getting, thank you!

No, there's no patina that has developed and I wear my Ti each and every day and subject it to showers, pools, hot tubs, etc. In other words it's not babied. I regularly remove scratches from the watch using the method I describe in the video. The side of the dial doesn't develop scratches often due to its location and I've noticed no colouration difference from that area to any other area of the watch case. I hope this information is helpful.

Titanium and ceramic are two different materials in Apple’s higher end watches. There’s not a model that contains both titanium and ceramic cases. Is your watch case made of titanium or do you have the ceramic model? If titanium and the process didn’t work, how deep was the initial scratch? Are you sure you got a sponge with the green abrasive? Perhaps the abrasive isn’t the same material I’ve found that works well.

I recently had the opportunity to clean up a friend’s Ultra Watch 1 that he asked me to help sell. Around the top of the bezel it was pretty badly scratched up. I did use this method to remove the scratches at the top of the bezel around the watch face. I was careful to make sure I always rubbed in the same direction so the tiny scratches from brushing all went the same way. I specifically bushed from the bottom of the bezel around the screen to the top, and back from the top to the bottom. I finished off by rubbing the front of the watch against a wool sock for a while as it seemed to blend everything in better. If you have unsightly scratches around the watch face bezel, this will hopefully improve them for you. I wouldn’t use this method for the case of the Apple Watch Ultra as the titanium on the case isn’t brushed at all and would be difficult to blend.

If you’re going to attempt it, remember to rub with the grain of the titanium. If you don’t you’ll be putting brush marks into the titanium in a different direction, which will be very noticeable to the eye.
