This is an excellent source of information if you have to do this job (in order to save a good part of the exorbitant cost of having someone else do this, to replace a faulty dash unit). I am far from a highly practical person, but I was able to remove the unit within about 10 minutes of starting - and felt highly accomplished for having done so. Hi If you are going to buy a new one, then try you local Renault Dealer first as they should supply you with one for £150 instead of the normal £700+ price that they should cost, because of the high number going faulty! thanks! A new one for £150 is better than sending an old one for repair when the prices for repairs are usually quoted quite high at £120ish! or see my videos for the cheap fix I did, thanks!

Please if there is hlany help,what could be the course if the speedometer (like the numbers dont run up anymore)....but rev counter work..is there a fuse i should look at or what could be the probem.

Hi this would most likely be caused by a faulty speed sensor. Normally you would look at the gear box on a vehicle to find the speed sensor, but it seems these vehicles (where a speed sensor goes may just be blanked off or have nothing and it) the speedo may just run off the front abs sensor(s) instead (nsf?). I am not sure how you can check the abs out though. Obviously if the abs light stays on then the two things could be linked. but otherwise I don't know how you can check what's working, so it may just be worth giving the reluctor ring and abs sensor gap a clean up when taking a look.

sorry only had the car for a few days sorry it has not gone back in easily. I'm stuck here myself trying to close the bonnet on a silly new 1 series BMW right now. should be simple but it's not. aarrrghhh!

Hi, yes it's been a while. First of all you could always try it with grippy gloves on, as gloves often help. You could also try a drop of WD-40 spray or silicone oil spray, as this may help, but only do this whilst the power is off, just try not to soak it all too much, as you will need it to come apart to dry off any excess. (electrical contact spray might also be better as this would clean, yet evaporate better afterwards in case it does not come apart still).

That is not removal of the dashboard panel. It is removal of the instrument cluster.

Yes sorry, depending on where you are in the world dashboard can mean either or both, the dash and the panel in front of the driver. Sorry for any misunderstanding. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dashboard What you call the dashboard I tend to know as the dash.
