How To Remove Cracked RV Graphics || RV Renovation || RV Decals
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
📍We tried every suggested method to remove the super cracked graphics off of this 2005 Crossroads Silverado and nothing worked.
After trying 20+ methods with little to no success we finally found something that worked! In this video we share the tips and tricks that we learned when successfully taking all of the graphics off of this 5th wheel.
Feel free to comment below any questions you might have!
We purchased the 16oz GraphXoff here www.autotrimdesign.net/graphx...
*Disclaimer*
GraphXoff is only intended to be used on fiberglass/filon and not on metal surfaces. it may remove paint when used on any metal surfaces such as slide-out trim.
TSP may remove wax from RV exterior.
Please use discretion and test any products on an inconspicuous place.

Done my share of paint stripping and I think I might have a hint to help speed up the process. After applying your 'decal lifter' paste cover it with plastic/Seran wrap to keep the paste from drying too fast. Works well with paint strippers.

What a great video! We are planning to remove our faded cracked and shrunken decals on our 2004 Crossroads Cruiser this year. I have watched numerous videos, and GraphixOff looks like the best choice for our application. I read through the comments and saw you ended up wet sanding to remove more of the ghost marks, so I will do that as well before we have new custom decals installed. Thanks again for the info.

I ended up wet sanding the area, using a 600 grit and slowly going up to a 2000, before buffing and waxing with a compound wax. It removed most, if not all of the ghosting
Hey Guys, Following your method, we removed our worn old graphics. But we have very bad shadows left behind from old stickers being baked on for so long by the sun as you did. You mentioned you had some products on order to remove the shadows or dwell lines. Have you gotten your products in and have you tried them. Can you mentioned what you ordered to remove the shadows. Also if you are using new graphics, where did you order them.. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
@TheFlippinTilbys
3 жыл бұрын
We ended up wet sanding it with an orbital sander, starting with a 800 grit and then working up to a 1500 grit. We followed techniques used for restoring the gel coat on boat hulls. It took the worst of the oxidation off but it didn't remove all of it. You could still see slight shadowing but we decided it looked good enough and left it bare. I hope that helps! I didn't get enough footage to do a video of it!
This is great!! Did anything end up working for the discoloration left behind from the graphics?
@TheFlippinTilbys
2 жыл бұрын
Lots of sanding and polishing.
Very informative. Do you think a paint roller would work as well as a brush? I only have to remove 8" wide strips and one of those travel map outlines off fiberglass. Mine is old classic without fancy decals.
@TheFlippinTilbys
4 ай бұрын
It would probably work! A paintbrush would allow for a thicker application, but otherwise, I would imagine it would work similarly!
When I removed vinyl from my car mineral spirits worked on most of the glue. I would only use it for that and never use it on the paint for anything else. It might cause damage if used too many times but it is not as harsh as acetone. Acetone might just instantly dissolve the paint! I know it is tricky because you want something that works but won't destroy the paint under the glue.
great job!!! imo it is best just to leave the skin clean of any further decals.... now get that camo hat a fish hook on it already, this will complete your project!!! 🤠

I have seen some videos on KZread on this, when you use either a rotary buffer or a dual action buffer with a heavy rv/ marine compound to remove the oxidation it will help remove the decale "shadowing " then can be followed up with some wax to make it shine like new!

I'll check it out! The ghosting on this rig bled into the fiberglass so topical solutions didn't work, I ended up wet sanding it with favorable results
Since one bottle is seldom enough, buy two or three(yes$$) use roller(4") and it's super fast and in the big picture it is not as much work as trying to stretch out the dissolving solution. Another big plus is it comes off so much easier if you just soak the graphics the FIRST time. Time vs $$ I do it while I am fishing, seems like multitasking helps the fish bite.
