Great tutorial. UNDO is luckily implemented now.
Brilliant video once again! Your method of instructing is second to none. Thank you!
Anthony that was absolutely excellent! The various techniques you demonstrated has certainly given me a better grasp of its proper use. As for closing and reopening the tool throughout the process I find that it is not unlike working in a series of layers. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and skills!

What a game changer! I absolutely needed a way to rescue a sunrise photo taken through a window (3 suns!). Fantastic tutorial!
Anthony, One of the best tutorials for Clone/Stamp. Great for someone who has used in the past like myself and for those new. Simply brilliant. And yes the ‘Cmd Z’ function is a necessity with this tool. Let’s hope Skylum listens and implements or at least tells us whether they will or not.
I've struggled with the more advanced Photoshop techniques and your videos have made me realise that Neo is a credible alternative for what I do. Your videos are detailed and easy to follow and the only ones I watch concerning Neo. I enjoy your architecture videos, too. If I had been younger I would have loved to have followed that path. I even have a tilt/shift lens for my Sony!

Hi Anthony, Over the last few years, I've appreciated your teaching so very much. A very special THANK YOU for your explanation of the CLONE tool. I have clone tool from an older pro Microsoft program that includes an UNDO tool but it wasn't nearly as comprehensive as this one. Your comments about matching corners and the concept of the geometry of items in the image is greatly appreciated. Hi Tony, I don't know if there is a bug in this version. After you have done your clone works, if you click to the Catalog, click develop tool and back to the clone tool, your previous clone works are all gone. Is it that difficult to create an "Apply Button" in the clone tool to fix this..........
Is there a way to reset the clone tool without clicking clone again and resetting everything within clone. Im talking if you want to clone a few different areas and gen erase wont work. Thanks

Love it, Love it, Love it. The tip about going out and back in to clone is so good, I had use the clone tool in Ai, but that doesn't work, is it possible to relocate the target cross? there are times when I wanted to clone a specific part useing A1 then clone the other side of the picture and it kept picking up were the target had moved to, or is this an Ai issue and not a Neo?

Thanks Ron! Yes it's working as it should. It will always take its reference based from the initial target UNTIL you hold alt/option and click somewhere else. That changes the source point.
Thank you for this great vid Anthony. I had a go with the NEO trial last week (FYI, I tried your code at checkout and it didn't do anything, which I've informed Skylum about and they sent me their own code so you may want to look into that) - I couldn't believe there wasn't an undo button, let alone the ability to use CTRL+Z.....it beggars belief! can you clone from one picture to another picture?
I swear the older versions on Luminar had object removal or spot healing brush.
@AnthonyTurnham
Жыл бұрын
It still has erase which uses AI to calculate what it thinks should be in the areas you remove. Maybe you're thinking of that. It's similar to a spot healing brush.
I think Skylum is digging a hole for itself with that Extension package. I paid $107 for the program, but I'm not going to pay $179+ for the Extensions. Those features should have been included in the program. Adobe and others put improvements into their updates. Maybe I would buy individual Extensions for $25 each, if that were a possibility - maybe. I wonder if they thought about what features to leave out of the base program so they could charge for them later. I like your tutorials - very informative.

Great video! I was able to remove several distracting items from some photos. Is there a way to move (scroll) the photo in NEO? How do I do just you basic 1 step undo… Command + Z or Control + Z in Lumina Neo ?
@AnthonyTurnham
Жыл бұрын
As I mention in the video, for some reason this function has currently been overlooked.
The one issue with the clone tool in neo is this... you can't flip a clone or rotate the sampled area like you can in photoshop. I do dog photography and lead removal can be a nightmare if you cannot flip or rotate the sampled area. For example, a dogs body has curves on hind legs, head, neck etc. When doing lead removal, only working with existing directional lines from a sampled area won't always cut it. They just need to introduce the flip and rotate feature and it would be perfect
@AnthonyTurnham

Thank you for yet another great tutorial. Lamentably my MacBook Pro with M1 Pro chip couldn’t handle this. There was a delay of 15-30 seconds after every single clone pass making the use of this tool horrid. The program did crashed and my laptop ran out of ram (50 Gb). I'm really not liking it yet. I was use to using the clone tool that Photoscape XPro has and there's no delay and I click on and off without having to go back and reset it each area of the pic I want to delete something. MFD -- nice to see someone else using PSX Pro. The one thing I have not good in the program is their cloning but likely I just am not doing things correctly. Would be nice if someone created a tutorial related to this topic. I have NEO and with a new super duper computer I likely will soon start using it although I do like PSX and have created my own user manual and if I can figure out how to use cloning better will have to add a section to it. I view everything I can for both all of the Skylum Luminar iterations as well as PSX Pro but there is just a lacking of tutorials for PSX at the moment. Like the ability to do text etc plus frames. Hope to see a response because I have not been viewing tutorials for about 9 months since being hospitalized 2 months and more time learning to walk again after an auto accident plus redoing my system after my son created an excellent computer for this old goat.

Hi. I'm using Luminar Neo as a plugin for Photoshop. I am not convinced of the benefits of AI of Neo. Cloning and erasing looks like poor version of competitive tools in Photoshop (and some other applications). Can you tell some words about getting benefits of Neo's AI?

Hi Marek, I've covered this in several videos already. If you have PS and are comfortable with it then no reason to change. If you're just getting started, NEO (rather than AI) is a really great choice.

Hello. Am considering getting Luminar, but surprised this is being billed as a 'new' feature in 2022. I realise this is not Photoshop.. but haven't tools like this been available in PS for many many years? It's kind of putting me off getting Luminar, in that now wondering if this app is not up to speed as other modern photo editing apps, if cloning is something that is very new for Luminar? Can you reassure me?
@AnthonyTurnham
Жыл бұрын
Hiya. Yeah it was a bit of an odd one, but Luminar put a lot of faith in their erase technology which uses AI to do what cloning does manually. However, cloning is still a better option and finally it made its way back into NEO. I wouldn't let this put you off though as most of their other technology is excellent and they're often being followed. For example the AI sky replacement was in Luminar long before Photoshop. The enhance AI has been mimicked by other apps. The clone tool was an anomaly. Hope that helps 😀

You may have had the feathering of the brush too high and therefore picking up and replicating the pixels in the periphery without realising. Perhaps try resampling (alt + click / opt + click on mac) new areas as you go too. In my experience it's a really reliable way to patch up an image and remove unwanted distractions. Have you ever made a luminar video about how to deal with the multi gigs of data that builds up after editing photos because it saves each single thing you do as a separate picture? I think when the file gets too full, it crashes and then I have to make a new folder for it and lose things. This has happened multiple times. Love the program, just this stuff is not cool.

@@laurastreetmedia5299 Hi Laura. I'm going to take a guess that you've found the catalogue's previews folder. At a glance it'll look like a few versions of every image. If you catalogue has a lot of photo, even though these previews are smaller in dimensions and filesize, they can quickly add up. 20gb isn't unusual. Personally to avoid bloated catalogues I prefer to create seperate catalogues for my different genres.
