Such great help. 'Little tips' (like @0:48, "..keep a little bit of pressure so it doesn't slip back down..." seem "clearly the thing to do", but actually anyone can overlook one small thing that bungles up the entire project. I like how your videos include things that, while seeming obvious, also can be just the 'one thing' we may be missing for a smoother project. (And yes, replacing the shelf.) Thank you!

Thank you for the great lesson! I've adjusted shelves several times, but almost always struggle with the task. Your simple tips make me wonder why I never thought of these methods before! Good stuff! 👍

I guess I got lucky in life. Dad and his dad were electricians, mom's dad was a general contractor and my uncles, between both sides, were either electricians or finish carpenters.

Hello, Thank you for making your videos. They are helping me to understand how to fix small repairs. I know next to nothing about woodworking. The mitre cuts in the crown moulding are off throughout the house. Could you tell me if you have done a video to fix this? Again, you are doing a wonderful job. 😊 from Vanc. Island

I'm working on a video that could be of help. If you're looking to fix outside corners I'd use wood filler. Inside corners I'd use Caulking.

Txs for the video, Any tips on how to move/snap shelf into place when hardware is in the way? Already removed doors but the other part of the clips are screwd inside cabinets. Don't wish to go lower or higher shelf, wish would be easiest. Wondering about option or must I remove all hardware? Ugh! Thank you 4 suggestions

I have been searching and searching on how to flip a shelf within my kitchen cabinet and I can’t believe how many idiots are out there not knowing what these little clips are and how to use them. There are no videos, that I can find, to remove my kind of shelf but there’s hundreds that have these simple clips that I never thought needed to come with instructions!! 🤔

Use a 5-way to press down on the shelf clips and also take them out.

It's never occurred to me to do it any other way than that. I did something right for once! Although I have been doing the wiggling method to remove the supports and my that's rough on your fingers. Spoon was inventive an probably less damaging than a screwdriver

Do people actually try to slide the shelves in and out??? It never occurred to me to ever try that since the shelf tabs are clearly made for popping in and out and, like you said, the doors are in the way.

One of the movers who unpacked my dishes in my newly-purchased house warned me off all plastic shelf holders of any kind. She said they get brittle over time and break, with the shelf collapsing and dumping its contents everywhere. She'd seen it a number of times over the 30 years she'd done that job, and she told me to replace them either with the metal pins or, much better, the L-shaped metal brackets with a pin on the back side. I was already aware of how plastic can crystallise and break when it gets old, so I went to the hardware store and bought the L-shaped metal ones.

At least the newer 🚕 cabinets CAN be adjusted. My old cabinet shelves are completely built in & NON adjustable. Will definitely be looking into that when I redo the kitchen next summer or fall. Soft close doors as well.
