I'm here for the same reason! Now I'm wondering if you MUST install a new door or if you can just spackle and paint the walls. We sometimes have a wheelchair user in the house and we don't need a door as much as we need the extra inches from removing the jamb! But the internet doesn't seem to approve of my plans, the instructions I get are always for replacement never just removal.

This was such a great video! I need to know how to install a door. Well they're be a part 2??? 🙏

I was looking for the part 2 of actually installing the door frame.. He makes it look easy besides destroying everything.. I have no experience and i need to remove all my bedroom doors, bathroom doors, and closet doors and install them too..

Im doing some bathroom work. My bathroom is attached to my main room. In order to increase space on both sides, I am going with a barn door. I wanted to know after I remove the door and door frame. What should I do next to make it look like a normal walkway? Im a beginner and this is a small project for this spring.

Thanks for the video. I thought that you said something about using pine casing rather than composite. It was difficult to hear so I am not sure. Can you say more about that? I am planning on installing new doors in my house and I am faced with this decision soon.

The door frame was put in after the house was built. It definitely should not be supporting anything.

“I’m going to show you how to do this so you don’t damage any trim” ....proceeds to destroy everything

That was so cool u made that look way too easy.

Is there are a non-destructive way of doing this? I have a 100 year old home that I'm trying to restore while keeping as much of the original materials intact as I can. One of its problems is that there's not a single door in the entire house which is still square. I've already shimmed/bent the hinges back into place but - in many cases - the whole frame has gotten out of alignment.

use a step stool, and take your time, you'll preserve more trim, the top piece went bad because you had to reach, the other side went bad, because you got frustrated,

I had to that for my desk to fit into my office room. We used a crow bar and boy did it really mess things up.

it might've been easier to disassemble the desk instead

Italians:just a screwdriver and a little bit of force

is the process the same for homes with plaster walls (no lathe)

I can understand if you were cutting through screws. But I don’t get why you have to cut through the nails when pulling the door jamb off will pull them out with it?

You can eliminate the door and finish the rough frame opening by installing sheetrock on exposed wood areas, then install metal corner bead on all outside corners. Apply texture mud and paint.
