Just to add to the video: the tie rod end can be very temperamental. I turned the castle nut upside down and threaded it almost all the way on. After soaking it with penetrating lubricant, hit the tie rod bolt until it let go finally(I spent an hour trying various other methods). Great video guys!!! Just wanted to add some details for those who might not have some specialty tools!!
Thanks for this, I saved my customer a lot of money doing it this way. She was really upset because another shop just changed it with a reman alt and it was bad already and she just moved here and couldn't take it back to them for labor warranty.
Thanks for the video. Fiance's Tuscon just blew the alternator on the way to work this morning so I will be replacing it later today.
JUST REPLACED ONE TODAY. HERE UP NORTH, A LOT OF THE TIME, THE CV AXLE WILL BE SEIZED INTO THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. SO INSTEAD OF REMOVING THE CV AXLE, I PLACED A JACK WITH A WOODEN BLOCK UNDER THE ENGINE OIL PAN, REMOVED THE RIGHT SIDE ENGINE MOUNT AND LOWERED THE ENGINE UNTIL I HAD ENOUGH ROOM TO PULL OUT THE ALTERNATOR. TO ME, IT SEEMED EASIER. HOPE THIS HELPS.
Today I replaced the alternator on 2009 Tucson, using your method. Without removing the inner CV axle it was impossible to remove the alternator. Thank you!

Best video on this on KZread, or would be if it didn’t kind of gloss over how to remove the CV boot, and how to separate the axle, then how to put it back together. I have the two bolts off and the tie rod disconnected, and the brake line loose (your video still shows the caliper in place?) but not 100% on what to do next. Guess I’ll just start yanking on stuff. 😉. Two minutes more for non mechanics would have really helped. I have the alternator completely loose but can’t get it out. Thanks.

is taking off a alternator off a 2011 hyundai tuson proedure the same . ? thanks
is that the petrol version, the diesel version,just pop the bonnet,top bracket bottom long bolt,power wire,and two banjo bolts for vacuum feed,one clip for bottom pipe,edge the belt off.
I found an even quicker way in a 2008. After removing the bolts and tensioner for the alternator, if you unhook your oil filter the alternator will slide out from underneath. Just have to turn it the correct way and it slides right out. As long as the front right is jacked up to get the under shield off, you can reach all the bolts from underneath. Didn't take tire off at all. I did unhook the wheel well enough to slide the bottom bolt off (two 10mm bolts) because the bottom of the alternator was so tight it wouldn't slide up. Big screwdriver and it pried right off.

I working on a new problem with my 2005 Tucson. Several screws inside the upper intake back out of the rod that controls the air. Three dampeners or butterfly valves and 6 screws where bouncing around inside. One screw made it's way into cylinder 4 and bent one of the intake valves. It messed up the head a little. All the damage was inside the firing chamber. I did a valve job and check the head for warping. It was fine. I should have it buttoned up tomorrow.

why couldn't you just loosen up the two sub frame bolts on passengerside and lower sub frame an inch for clearance ?

I don't know why you would take all that off. You can remove the plastic cover on bottom and take off your oil filter and it will come right out. So much simpler.

Maybe different on another model than I have. But that is the way I did it this morning. It was on a GLS front wheel drive.
I just dropped the top engine support and tie rod thats all......15 min. Tops.........off & on...

Did you had any trouble with it coming off? I'm trying to change mine, got the bolts off, everything disconnected, but it won't budge off the bottom.

no a large screwdriver to pry it up a bit out of bracket them turn alternator around backwards to come out

Justin Ritchie..yeah, for mine (2011 Tucson) just had to lift the right side, take the bottom cover and right side cover, disconnect all the alternator's wiring, disconnect the air conditioning lines. the bottom bolt just sits there in a U channel, so once you take the top bolt off, tap it to come off , rotate, and slide out by where the AC lines go by. just make sure if it's a rebuild or new, your sleeves are matched to the old one. I spent a hell of a time trying to fit the new one in because the sleeves were pressed in too deep.

@@juaniglesias6375 2011 is a different generation and doesn't have the same problem as the first gen 04-09. That's why it was so much easier.
That is absolutely the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Why in the fuck do they make it so fucking hard to take the alternator off???? I had a 93 olds mobile and it took me 4 minutes to undo the bolts and the wires and replace it with a new one and another 4 minutes to put it all back. I take shits longer than that. That's just nuts.

I removed the strut bolt it was easier
