I had to replace the top oil pan gasket on my c5. The sub frame has to be dropped to get the pan out. So the engine needed to be supported by a hoist. The rack needed to come out and all harnesses needed to be disconnected. With the engine supported and the engine mount nuts removed I lowered the sub frame by loosening the sub frame mount nuts to the bottom thread. This added about a 1and1/2 inch clearance for the steering box. I had also removed the "A" arm suspension and leaf spring. I was working alone and considered installing the sub frame with the suspension intact would be near impossible alone. I removed the rack (your video helped with that). I put an ATV jack under the sub frame and lowered it out. Replaced the oil pan gasket. Time to reassemble. Hung the sub frame, Installed the rack. All going smooth until I tried to install the power steering connections to the steering box. Connections would not align, wanted to cross thread. After repeated failure to align the threads properly I dropped the sub frame, installed the rack with the power steering lines connected, jacked the assembly as a unit into position. I had to go in from the right side, raise the assembly enough so the left tie rod would go over the abs hydraulic lines and position the transverse brake line behind the rack so it could be secured to the back of the sub frame then pushed and jacked the sub frame into position . Torqued sub frame and engine mount nuts to spec, job done , time to put my feet up and have a beer. Sounds like a lot of unnecessary work but this will be my go to method in the future. In the end it would have saved me time, frustration and a whole lot of expletives deleted.

I got to the part where the bolt and bracket got stuck, didn't think about loosening the suspension mount bolt gonna try that now thanks.

You're welcome! I had troubles myself finding a video on it. So I decided it'd be best to make one during the harmonic balancer replacement.

When you were removing the passenger side of your steering rack, was there a metal bushing holding the passenger side in? Mine just WILL NOT come undone.

I had a rubber bushing on that side. It was pretty tight but it was harder putting back in than taking it out. I used a 2x4 and my hammer to get it back in.

Dude you are missing so many steps. The abs bracket needs to be removed, the sway bar needs to be removed. This video is only helpful for taking apart a wrecked car. Useless otherwise.
