Had the same problem … not explained in the manual . Did the pulling out of the handles and got started. Much appreciation .

My pull cord got stuck so I Google on KZread came to this video with the same lawnmower and it worked. I'm back to cutting my yard again 4/8/24

Best to put a peace of copper pipe on cord to prevent it from going all the way in

I guess that no one reads instructions anymore - this is literally what is in the setup instructions for this mower. I can’t imagine being such a dunce to buy a new mower, not even look at the instructions, not looking underneath it, then thinking you bought a defective mower, then searching through KZread videos. I guess that the movie Idiocracy was really a documentary.
