Is there an age requirement on starting a non profit? I am 21 years old but have been creating an idea for one. Also do you need to have clear outline of what the organisation will do before signing up?

Hi Gabrielle, we would recommend that you incorporate as a non-profit. This will protect your directors from liability and also allow you to apply for some grants. We would also recommend that you apply for charity status. Your organization seems to qualify, and this would enable you to fundraise more and be eligible for many grants. Hi @supasounds2023, There is no specific age requirement for starting a Not-for-Profit (NFP) organization. With your parents' assistance, you can establish a Not-for-Profit (NFP) at the age of 15. Hello! I am a Kazakhstani citizen. Can I register online (remotely from Kazakhstan) a non profit organization in Canada? I want to do so because in my country a non profit organization has to pay taxes and make many reports. Are there any taxes in Canada for non profit organization?

Hi, Generally speaking, Not profits in Canada are exempt from taxes. However, there may be situations where they are liable for tax. We would recommend you speak to an experienced charity lawyer to determine the best course of action for your situation.

Hi! We are interested in formation of charity in Canada. We are a Pakistan based organization which has already established a chapter in the USA.
