I redeemed 240,000 HHonors points for a 3 night stay at the Canopy by Hilton Washington DC The Wharf. That was worth 0.67 cents per point. A little bit better than average redemption.

Dang who knew Hilton points could be so valuable?! This just goes to show that if you pledge your loyalty to particular hotel chains, you could really get a lot more value from those points than you may initially think due to all the extra benefits that come on these cards. Yes! I'm part of the Hilton family now! Great video on Hilton credit cards Matt! I've actually been to the Hilton Waikoloa Village, like over 20 years ago, and it was an amazing property! Now that you've reminded me, I think I may just have to try to go back and go for a 5th night free redemption like you mentioned!

I've redeemed 800k+ Hilton points this year and gotten at least .7 of a ¢ and up to .9 of a ¢ per point by redeeming points at Conrad and Double Tree stays without taking in consideration the 5th night free and $0 tax when booking with points. I value Hilton points at least .7 of a cent. The good thing about Hilton points it that you can earn lots of them with the great multipliers on Hilton cards and the status points boost. Absolutely! Those bonuses and multipliers are solid, making it easy to earn a lot of Hilton Points quickly. Yeah when you take into account the 5th night free, I bet a lot of your higher end Hilton redemptions were in reality over 1 cent per point. Thanks for watching Cesar!

You can definitely find some good value for Hilton points redemptions. I'm looking at the Aspire for next year - depending on what AMEX does with the fee + credits. Thanks for the info + video!

To be clear, you only need to "pay" for 4 nights with points to get the 5th free. In other words, a 5 night stay will cost you the points for 4 nights. 75k per night for 4 nights becomes 60k points per night for 5 nights. This improves the points value.

You can’t get the welcome bonus more than once but you can upgrade/downgrade in order to have 2 of the same Card!

How long does it take to get the welcome Bonus after you meet the spending threshold? Could you book a flight for a $1000 and then use the points to book a hotel within a few days of watch other?

Only takes a week or two usually! For your second question, it depends, you get your points credited to your account at end of statement cycle so if you were to book a flight for $1k around that time, then you’d have the points to put toward a hotel a few days after. Thanks for watching Edgar!

Yes! You can get the welcome bonuses for all individual Hilton cards! Great time to go for the Surpass bonus too because it’s at an all-time high! Link to bonus in description!

I got a question, I have a trip to Japan coming up and have amex points to transfer to hilton honors. It says, "72,000 Points for first night*" Does that mean the other nights are cheaper OR is each night 72,000 points?

Hey Carlos good question! That could mean that yea it’s just the first night at a rate of 72,000 points per night. This could be due to that night falling on a weekend, holiday, etc. where there is a higher rate. To confirm it, you could divide the total amount of points needed for your stay by the number of nights to get the average nightly rate. Thanks for watching, hope that helps!

Great info. Is there a way to book 5 nights and get the fifth night free and then also use your yearly certificate with this block of nights? Meaning really you would only be paying for three nights with points!

That’s a great question! So unfortunately what I’ve experienced and also seen from others is that booking that Free Night Cert. Does have to be a separate booking by itself. So you could book the same hotel for instance but you wouldn’t be able to combine the certificate w the block of nights. 5 nights to get the 5th free + a free night cert as a separate booking is still a steal though! Thanks very much! You typically can’t redeem free night certificates for All-Inclusives, but you can redeem points! I just used points to pay for an all inclusive for my honeymoon!

What does "upgrading for free" mean? Does this happen during booking or after?

Hey Adrian great question. It happens after booking and depending on your Hilton Status they made upgrade your room 24 hours before or at the time of checkout to a higher priced/quality room. Thanks for watching!

You arent supposed to take the room upgrade value into calculation for points value. Its upsized value.

Redeeming multiple certificates is like redeeming one certificate. Just make several bookings one after another. I'll do that all the time.

I’m Diamond but don’t know how to really use the points to my advantage. That is what I am trying to learn and that’s why I’m here.

Best way to use Hilton points is to use them for stays in third world countries where you only need less than 20k points a night. I’ve done this throughtout South East Asia and have had multiple week stays at hotels for free.

Very good breakdown Matt. I was curious about how many points are required to book a room at Hilton, but I never looked into it. I must admit, hearing a 1.3 cents per point value doesn’t sound as exciting as getting a 3c/point+ value, but I understand that the Hilton card is set up a bit differently especially when looking at how high the multipliers are on their cards (5x on groceries, dining, and gas on a no annual fee card that’s not a rotating calendar category?! I see how they make it up now).

Great video... I was undefeated with getting upgrades in 2022. So I always got great value out of my points... I usually don't stay at a property for more then 2-3 days because I like to go to different properties. But I have a trip in just over a week from now where I will be taking advantage of that 5th night free and im banking on getting a good upgrade 🫡
