In this video, we’re going over another 2 ways to redeem Amex points for max value. Once you’ve earned Amex Membership Rewards Points from your American Express credit cards like the Amex Gold Card and Amex Platinum Card, next you’ll want to redeem those points the right way for some awesome travel! Many people ask me about how to redeem Amex points for travel, so I decided to pick 2 of the coolest business class flights to go over as examples here in this video.
The 2 Amex Points examples here are going to be a flight in business class on Emirates from New York to Milan Italy, as well as a business class flight on ANA from the western US to Tokyo Japan. These 2 examples of redeeming American Express points are both very popular and they show how you can book a flight that normally costs thousands of dollars for a fraction of that using credit card points. Redeeming credit card points like this allows normal people to experience luxury travel that normally only the ultra wealthy can pay for!
When flying first and business class flights by redeeming Amex Membership Rewards Points, it helps to be flexible and to plan in advance. However, it’s definitely also possible to book last minute flight redemptions using credit card points, so in this video I’ll talk about a tool that I use to find last minute deals.
American Express credit cards that earn Memberships Rewards Points like the Amex Gold Card and Amex Platinum Card are very valuable when used the right way. I hate to see people redeem their hard-earned credit card points incorrectly by either cashing them out or by booking directly through travel portals, so hopefully the examples in this video as well as a few other videos I’ve made will be able to help anyone get max value from their Amex Points!

I loved how you showed getting 10¢ per point or more is totally possible, but it takes some work. For anyone new to this, finding award availability is usually the #1 struggle so planning in advance and using award tools like you said helps make that whole process a lot easier. Awesome video.
Crazy! My wife and I are flying business class on Emirates from Milan to New York on June 14th. For the two of us it was 174,000 points.
Your video quality is next level, Dan! Thanks for featuring me in the video! Excited to bring more great redemption examples to your channel :)
These kinds of redemptions is EXACTLY the reason why I love the credit card game. Yes the cash prices are somewhat inflated. Yes I probably would never pay those prices myself. But given optimizing cards and spending can get me these experiences without those price tags, it's well worth it! The ANA example has always been the highlight, but The Room is really hard to find. Another redemption I've found that usually has easier availability, and still on an amazing airline, is on EVA! There's also the absolute sweet spot of booking some of these flights through ANA instead of Virgin, but does require some more nuances like a round trip. Awesome video as always Daniel!
Love the specific travel redemption examples here Daniel! Over the next couple years I really want to travel a ton and plan to use my CC Points for First & Business Class Flights to experience some super cool travel redemptions. Credit Cards are awesome, because for a lot of people the cash prices for some of those luxury flights are just unfeasible, but the way to still experience those things is to leverage CC Points for those super cool experiences instead. Stashing away my points is definitely something I can be guilty of haha, but have a couple trips planned over the next year or two that I'm pumped to use chunks of points for. Great video as always here Daniel!
Great video man! You packed so much value into this one 👍🏻

@@R3dMonkeyJunkie I sure am. That's actually the only reason I pulled the trigger. I had been rejected 3 times by amex for the preferred so the gold was out of the question for me. They sent 2 envelopes basically telling to apply with a 90K bonus, so I took it. I didn't think I would get approved because this will be my 7 card in the last year, but I'm glad I did.

I got the same offer for the Gold just browsing around their site while pondering whether I should get the Sapphire preferred for the 80k points sign-up. I saw that the normal Sign-up for the Gold is 60k points so I didn't think it twice before applying 😁
I can't wait to start booking more luxury flights with my Amex points. At this point, I've really just been stockpiling them, but I do have a possible trip coming up soon to Europe where I'll get my first taste at booking award flight tickets. Hopefully it won't be quite as difficult as The Room with ANA here, but we'll see! Great video as always Daniel!
Love the examples! So great to see the redemptions that are available for much cheaper due to points!

Thanks Manny! Definitely some great ways to use points to save on some really cool travel here!
Thank you a million times over Daniel. I have been trying to figure out HOW to get myself in "The Room" and over to Japan for YEARS and you've detailed exactly how I can get there with my Amex points. THANK YOU!!!!!
DB is out here doing WORK!!! Appreciate all this amazing info man!!!!!
Nice video Daniel! I just got my Amex Gold. Im excited to try these out when I finish my bonus
Got my 90k Amex gold last month! This video is perfect - I’m trying to fly my girlfriend and I to Japan later this year🙏

You might wanna look a little further out. Flying to Japan is tough right now, most people recommend looking at flights 11 months out when seats are released if you're trying to get Business or First class
Been waiting for this!!
Unless the redemption rule changed, ANA award flights can't be booked one way. I always had to find round trip award seats and that makes it more difficult. Virgin Atlantic also said the same rule applies to ANA flights
Thanks for the info + video!
Great video thank you ! Here with Amex France the transfer tools isn’t as nice as the one from US but that’s still better than buying full price tickets
I’ve been watching all tutorials and this video is by far the best explained. Thank you so much!
Awsome video! well explained!
This is super helpful! 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome, I love Amex so I’ll check it out
Can you do an example of booking a first class with points vs economy with points? Same flight but point difference. Do they cost the same? Thanks
love these videos.
All your videos are so informative! Thank you so much! Can you do one flying from CA to Australia? I’m new to this and still learning to maximize our points. Also more videos on how to use apps like card points. Thank you!
This is so helpful for me ik I had hard figuring how to transfer my points to get the best value, now I have a better understanding of it I do wish to find good tickets to fly to Bangladesh 🇧🇩 I was only able to find 1 cent per point so far
What app do you use to check business class seat available?
I also was looking for ANA award availability from NYC to Tokyo and couldn’t find anything as well. I’m thinking about doing the second option where I book economy and then hoping an award ticket. Can I book with points in economy and if I find an award in business upgrade with awards as well? Or do I have to book the economy ticket with cash and then use points for award availability?
how should you be researching? Are there sites that are better at finding deals? What about finding the airlines that fly to locations you'd want, I wouldn't think to fly emirates or ANA.
Booking ANA business class award tickets requires an insane amount of work and a lot of luck. Hopefully, this is pent up demand will subside in the next 2 years, or Virgin and ANA devalue their points slightly so the sweet spot is not too good to be true (like it currently is). Then it would be less competitive to book.
How about flying domestic or to the Caribbean (Dominican republic). I was looking but didnt find good deals or ways to spend the points.
Nice Video Daniel
Hey Daniel, I am super interested in a video talking about CC, finances, and joint accounts for couples. There isn't a lot of practical info on youtube and I would love to hear your opinion/strategy. Thanks!
As someone new to the credit card game videos like these are super helpful! Appreciate it man!!
10:16 Do you know if united post those award tickets or would i just search trough ANA that far out? I Don't see anything 9-12 months out.
Are there great deals for economy ana like with business? I want to take a family of 4 on economy with amex points, as i don't have the points to cover business
I’m watching all your videos on travel partners trying to learn how to get the best value for my points. Thank you for this series! I have Amex, Chase, Capital One, and a Citi card. Can you do a video about travel partners that are interchangeable between the 4 so I can figure out the best ways to combine points from different cards?
Can you do this for chase points ?
I pay friends using Metapay. Do you know is I get point using this and will the dollars I spend count toward bonus points?
I have a question, so lets say i book with points and pay with cash. Do I gain points for completing the full trip or not??
What do you think of the Alaska Airline Credit Card? Can you do a review on that Credit Card please.
Just wondering why transfer to Virgin Atlantic over ANA directly?
thanks for breaking it down for a beginner like me in a way to easily understand
Real quick, do any of the American Express points expire each year or are they forever until you use them?

Amex points are good as long as have active Amex card and stay in good standing with all thier rules. Can transfer them out to partner and cancel the card if do not want to pay the Amex crazy fees afer a year.
Can you do capital one now that y’all have the venture x?

Yeah that’s actually a video that’s coming up soon! I filmed a bee video for Amex points that will be out next week, then a video for Chase points is filming next week, and then Capital One is next 👍
That sponsor transition was smooth
I understand the perspective of wanting to maximum money per point, but if I'm more just about the A to B on a plane, what can I do? For a person who is just doing a few domestic, round-trip flights each year, what types of redemptions are possible? If I'm just in the standard cabin, is more than 2 cents per point achievable?

Yeah if something is in high enough demand? Cash is the only way to get it.
Used my chase points to transfer to delta for business class to Rome via Turkish Airlines. 74k points vs 2,5k cash,
Would love to see economy flights as I wouldn’t fly business anytime soon as a broke college student
Isn’t ANA airlines star alliance and Virgin sky team ? I don’t understand how that would work….

Nice job. Plenty of videos on how to earn points. Not enough how to redeem them.
Amex offered me the Platinum Card, refused it and got the Gold instead 😂
Daniel, I have a dilemma 🙂: I have 154,000 points on an Amex Gold card and newly minted Japanese passport . I want to fly from LAX --> Tokyo 1 way ASAP and live off savings for potentially up to a year. I may also wish to visit Thailand, Singapore, south korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Indonesia. What is the best way to book a flight with AMEX points to Tokyo, while preserving enough points to travel through Southeast Asia for the next year on savings?🗾🛫

Use Ana for lax to Japan then AirAsia (Malaysia airline) to travel around SEA. Amex points won't work for AirAsia but they're cheap
I’m upset I found this after booking my flight normally
Any way to transfer Amex points to Hyatt points?

booked my ANA Business Class flying from NRT to SGN for 25k points which turned out to be $0.1256. Not bad at all
I'm going to have 75k points. What is the best way to get more value to fly to France. I've never been there before so I am unfamiliar what partner program to transfer my amex points over. help lol @DanielBraun
