    5 minutes writing a script outline can reduce the number of takes and cutdown on filler words (uh,well,like,and). DIY audio booth - your mattresses flipped up against a corner DIY Cheap pop filter - coathanger+pantyhose (or sock but muffles more) DIY cheap audio backdrop foam tiles - those cardboard drink carriers from fast food places or pool noodles cut into strips

  • @Lunerai

    @Lunerai

    4 жыл бұрын

    Yes! All you have to do, is set up your hotkeys the same. In OBS, you just go into settings and into hotkeys, then find record and bind that to whatever, I use f6, and then in audacity, press Edit, then on the bottom click preferences, find keyboard near the bottom, and scroll to the R section, in there, one part says Recording - Record, it should be originally bounded to R, click that, then click your OBS record key, I still use f6, however, to record both at once, you must click your hotkey while having Audacity opened, or else only OBS will start recording. Hope this helped and wasn't too late.

    if it is like a lets play then you record during but sometimes if you had a clip and you did not record do i voice over but most of the time you want to record while playing but if you like to just say what is going on then do a voice over. it is really just about preference but i suggest record while gaming it adds more life

    OK, I'll add to this video. if you're doing game play and yell, processing will not work. in the interest of free, download vst host, and add the default compressor, set the limit on there, and then chain it in audacity, in order to do that in audacity you will need go to where it says audio host, change that to wasapi, then go to recording device, and speaker, the speaker you're using, that will be your interface if you're using one. this will give you even better audio. Note that in the voice over world if you normalize you should always do it at -3db. Of course none of this will work if you do not have a quiet environment, many people go for condenser mics but I would recommend dynamic if your environment isn't like the pros. Yes lets touch on this pop filter, you don't need one, take too pencils attach them together and speak into the pencil, the air from your voice will allow for separation, you can also use the finger method, placing two of your fingers together, and speaking into them. But wait, you're trying to play games and record aren't you?, ok I got you, place your mic to the side of your mouth, this will allow for no popping due to the mic not being in front of you. you can also put the mic below your mouth and aim it up. There's more to discuss but I'll leave you with these few. Just make sure you record something and don't waste time.

    And even then, digital limiters and compressors are limited in their usefulness. A proper analog limiter would be best like one built into a decent audio interface. I have a field recorder that I use for recording audio for client work that has a limiter but it;s a digital one so I don;t even bother. Instead I use a recording mode on my recorder that records the audio to 2 different files. One at whatever level I set and the other 6db quieter. If my audio on my main file clips or distorts, I can go to the quitter file and get that distorted section from that track. I use a Tascam DR-40.

    @@EricLefebvrePhotography Tascam is great but I think, people should get the dbs 286s, there's a video online that show how to use this to completely remove background noise, without losing your original sound. also yes I agree with you about digital devices.

    Why should I "record" in Audacity and trying to juggle with synchronizing gameplay and voice track, afterwards, if i could instead record multiple audio tracks directly in OBS? After that I could extract that voice track via Audacity, for editing and it would have EXACTLY the same length than the gameplay track.

    You are doing two times capturing & encoding the video this way... quality will suffer, frame rate of the video may change too if OBS capture fps is different.

    Audacity is good in a pinch but all changes are destructive. 60$ will get you Reaper, a really solid DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). With Audacity, if you make equalizer changes, those changes are permanently written to the wave form, proper DAWs run the audio through plug-ins instead allowing testing and making changes in a non-permanent or destructive way. I have a copy of audacity at my dayjob because I don;t have to do editing often enough to warrant getting a proper DAW but for my side business (Photo and Video) I use a proper DAW.
