Justin - question about the Logitech webcam listed in your description. Two questions: 1) I am assuming you always use it for your Skype calls, meaning you don't use the built-in Facetime camera on your Mac? 2) In reading the product description, it seems 720p is the best you can get with the Logitech on Mac - am I reading that correctly? Thanks for the video. Where do you get the movie tools? They aren't ecamm tools are they? That's the app you're talking about when you go to the movie tools folder. What is the source? Where are they? Where do I get them? Is it possible for both participants to share their screen as well as the webcam footage? I want to interview people who want to show their work or their processes.

Been using Call recorder on my Mac for a few years on my podcast show and have just started using it for video interviews. Thanks Justin for the tips. Also how do you ensure your "guest" looks great and sound awesome?

Thanks Peter! You could start the 'call' early and run a few speed tests, sound checks and help them with their video shot if needed. You could also ask them before hand to organize a decent microphone for better audio if possible.. or even send them one to use for the interview. I hope that helps :)

Hey Aimee, Most video editing software will let you use multi tracks. You'll just need to line the footage all up and make cuts where you want the different person to show up..

Does Pamela record Skype on PC at 1080p? None of the documentation on their site lists the quality level.

Hello Can I divide audio an record in pro tools 11?

What kind of App would I need to download to record Skype calls on my Samsung Galaxy Note 9?

I bought the Skype Call Recorder from Ecamm but when I click on the Ecamm movie tools I just get a large black screen. There was no listing or any signs of additional software.

Hey Dianna, They've moved the tools in under their Skype toolbar. You just click the Magnifying glass icon - Next to the Record button.

Hi Justin! Great video. I used the Skype call recorder on mac, however I used the option: "split screens". Unfortunately, when I saw the final video, the 2 persons on the other side of the call are cut!!!! It was a very important interview so I would like to know if there is a way of getting the 2 videos of the call that I can save the interview material!!! In my macBook, I don't have the movie tools folder, rather an app so I'm a bit confused with the "movie tools folder" options for editing.

The software has changed a little bit since this was created.. but if you selected Split Screen then you'll only get the one video file with you on one side and them on the other. If you select Multi-Track then you get the two separate video files. You still need to use the tools (now a separate app) to split them into separate video files.

thanks for your reply. It doesn't work. Neither with the app nor with the movie tools folder (I also downloaded it to check if it would solve my problem). I can split the sound tracks but not the video :( Thanks. From now onwards I will only use multi-track because it is more flexible.

One suggestion, it would have helped if you showed the actual end product, with the split screen Here, about the only example of it is on the page for the ecam software. So we don't really see what the suggested end product really looks like and how it compares. But I learned a lot, and I appreciate it!

Hey man! Thanks for joining us on the Grey Wave a couple weeks back. Been watching your vids for a while and was happy you made it. My problem is with the audio quality of my Skype recordings. Thought you bailed me out with ecamm but they've written that it's not compatible with M1 Macs. Other suggestions?

Ecamm is supported by M1, it works REALLY well! There's also a HQ audio option in the settings for Ecamm Live to get even better audio

@@PrimalVideo This just in from Ecamm: Ecamm Live, our video production and streaming platform is running on M1 Macs. The Call Recorder product is not compatible with the M1 Macs due to the way it patches into Skype as an add on application. Call Recorder for Skype will continue to be supported on Intel based Macs.

Great video! I'm going to use SuperTintin instead of Pamela though. SuperTintin has better Skype video recording quality but the user interface isn't as advanced as Pamela.

You could try hooking your phone up to your Mac with a USB cable and doing a Screen Recording using Quicktime and selecting your iphone as the camera. It should work.. but I haven't tried it that way..

After 4 days of trying to get set up with Evaer and getting bad audio reverberation, poor video "lip-sync" on recordings, and off-base "assistance" from their Tech people, I gave up and went to Pamela. Two days & several tech exchanges later, I'm still unable to record a simple Skype video call. All I'm getting is audio! I consider myself tech savvy and a decent trouble shooter, so I'm doubly frustrated. My next download will be FVCR (Free Skype Video Call Recorder from DVDVideoSoft) but I'm not sure it has the side-by-side playback feature that's a MUST for me. Any input would be greatly appreciated while I await my next response from Pamela.

Sorry to hear you're having troubles recording your Skype calls. Personally I use Skype Call Recorder on Mac and have never had any issues. I have used Pamela a few times and while it was more involved to setup initially it worked well. As for the issues you're having I can't really help you with that.. Potentially it could be a codec issue or even video card driver issue. Pamela support should be able to point you in the right direction. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Yes, Skype allows you to record videos in split screen. The only reason this is better, is because it records the two videos separately.

Allavsoft also helps to download or record videos and music files

I am not getting those options for movie tools. Please help!

It looks like in the latest update they include it all in the one program. You can access these tools by clicking the magnifying glass on the Call Recorder main window.

Does This software allow you to record a video call when someone else places the call to you? Can I record an incoming video call? Or do I have to initiate the call in order to record it?

By default it records all Skype calls, in and out.

You mention Zoom's cloud recordings give you separate files for each caller's camera. Is this still available in 2020? I don't see it available in any of the record settings. Thanks!

hi! it is still available, you have to adjust your recording view, if you are in gallery view it will record it as such

I record my Skype video calls my self and all of my video's that I do now are all in FULL HD so there more clearer

How about recording a presenter's voice and just his computer presentation?

Pamela doesn't work with the latest skype versions because they disabled access to the desktop API or something, tried it

Does the other person need to have a MAC too?

0:42 -- "Your results are always going to depend on how good the internet connection is" -- I have a serious question here! Why should this be the case? Is there software out there that can simply do a high definition recording on both ends and then stitch the recordings together after the fact? That is: you should be able to interview someone on Skype, and if the connection is good enough that you and your Skype partner can make out what the other is saying, that should be enough, but your KZread viewers shouldn't be subjected to the lame Skype quality. It seems like this would be an incredibly simple thing to do and extremely useful in this day and age of Skype interviews all over the place ... but I keep seeing bad Skype recordings?!!@? Help!

How about recoding on IPhone?

All the services seem to only deliver 720p.

Good Question! Personally I'd just use Skype with the call recorder plugin as described in this video, but I'd also record my computer screen - with skype set to Full Screen so I had a full screen version of how skype would display the call. That would be the primary video display, but the additional footage from the call recorder could be used for close ups or to break up the edit as needed.

When you refer above to recording the computer screen with Skype set to Full Screen, I guess you're referring to a Skype setting rather than Ecamm setting, yes? Where exactly is that setting? If I do nothing, what is the default setting for Skype group video calls? Do I have to select the Ecamm Multi-track recording option for recording a group call, or do I have other options? I have no post-production skills. Is it possible a group video call I record will be usable and ready to upload to KZread without me doing anything, or must I do something to make it usable? Sorry if too many questions. Thank you in advance.

@@claudiamastromauro4573 Hi, Yes I did. I had to contact the company to send me the link. They responded fairly quickly which was good. Unfortunately, if you have an old computer, this software will not work so well. Which was the case for me. Until I get better tech, I'll be using zoom for my interview recording - which has turned out to be quite good. I then go into Imovie to edit it.

You have ruined my work. I installed the app, but didn't know how it worked, so I decided to uninstall it and I did. I did an interview and thought I was recording directly from Skype, but it only got the audio. The video shows the logo of the stupid trial. What a waste of time. How can I get rid of that call recorder?! Very stupid decision

Hmm Epiphan video grabbers allow you to put 4k cameras into the computer and they are picked up by Skype - I guess that will still be downsized
