Interesting video, clear, simple and not as complicated as others I've watched this evening. I have Marzocchi 40mm inverted forks on my Cagiva River 600 (1999 'V' Reg UK), and the off-side fork started leaking recently. Of course I will be renewing the seals in both forks so I can be sure they contain the same amount of fluid and react nearly identically. I've spoken to my local bike mechanic (who I sometimes use for spares, MOT's etc, decent guy who even loans me his tools!), but he's not able to find much data about my machine, he can get the seals no problem, but I don't know how much fluid to put in. I could measure how much comes out of the good fork, but I'm reluctant to do this as whilst it only passed it's MOT a few months ago 1). I don't know if the fluid level in the good fork is even correct. 2). From day one, whenever I've braked, there is a lot of travel even on gentle braking. So I would like a more accurate method of knowing how much fluid to put in without having so much that I end up blowing the seals under heavy braking, especially with the extra weight of a pillion. So, any advice, web-links or videos would be really helpful. I'm aiming to undertake the repair work in about 2wks time (unless necessity dictates otherwise). Many thanks in advance.

Great tutorial but I'm confused. I have these (or similar) USD forks on my Aprilia Pegaso 650 but when I take the cap off I find a spring which bears against that collar you show with the collets. You don't show a spring in your vid - or are my forks different?

+Helder Vieira You'll probably need to refresh or refill the oil. The best thing to do is just follow the instructions in the video because your fork seal might be leaking. You can easily check that, just look if there is oil coming from the seal or if it's "sweating". Check your manual for how many oil you need to put in your fork. Good luck!

It could be that all the oil has already drained from the fork. You could try and refill it but you won't be sure if you have enough oil or too much. It's probably around 200/300ml. Good luck!
