I’m trying not to, but I think she’s finally given up. Tell her...sincerely. Tell her you f*cked up, that you are a human that makes bad choices and that you regret those choices. She needs to hear that you regret the pain you caused...even if she won't take you back. If you really love her like this, you will tell her all of this and more even if it is just to give her some peace of mind to help HER heal without her taking you back. As a betrayed partner...hearing my husband tell me over and over and over again that it was the worst choice of his life and seeing him work so hard on our marriage is what is helping me rebuild trust In him. My husband NEVER talked about his feelings before this...even when I begged and pleaded. So, seeing him be vulnerable and seeing him work so hard to be open and vulnerable about everything is a HUGE deal for me. Your lady needs to see that you are hurting...that she actually DID mean something to you despite you making a horrible selfish decision.

I am a marriage therapist, so I work with trust & communication issues all the time. Geoffrey made several excellent suggestions -- but I'd like him to clarify how he would help a couple to have an "emotional" conversation about the root problem and the win/win solutions. Is he saying that emotions must be addressed rather than ignored? That seems obvious, but it is a crucial point, especially for men, who generally want to get right to the fix and avoid all those messy emotions.

wow, I found it a generalization to say especially men avoid emotions. By my exoerience woman often times are not able to express their emotions and instead trying to trigger men with cues. Where men quickly can express emotions and expect woman to do so instead of triggering them, which mostly affects men's emotions in a negative way. Because it make them feel ignored.

Well this definitely helps a lot….my partner and I are really trying to ease into trust and slowly working to healing and moving forward. We almost rushed back into being “lovey dovey” with each other but instead she felt pressured which I understood so what we decided was to create space where we see each other once a week to not be overwhelmed but the rest of the days we reflect and work on communication with each other and ourselves. We both really want this to work but every now and then which I completely understand she has those days where she wants to “throw in the towel” to my response is I don’t blame her if she did it is not easy trying to repair but if we both do it together as well as work on being the best of ourselves I know we can best. Difficulty right now are those days when she feels like giving up and shutting down. I want to understand why but sometimes it is cases where it is her siblings talking bad. How do I reassure her or help her understand that I want to grow with her, that I am bettering myself, and am serious about progressing towards a new and better us? She currently believes that I am just doing this temporarily but she says she would like it if I prove her wrong so I’m doing to the best of my ability to do so just days that she wants to give up hit her hard and my question is how can I help her even more on those days without overwhelming her or her feeling like I’m just repeating/telling her what she wants to here?

I left due to a conflict of my emotions, depression and my insecurity at work. I hurt her feelings by not trusting her, not talking and she felt left in the dark for my reasons...and leaving her feeling abandoned as it were. I'm here because my partner lost my trust, our daughter is only just 4months old and I discovered him being disloyal even though we talked about how lies (cheating and other forms of mental and physical hurts). Even though we spoke about this before our daughter was born he decided to stray, lied and I found out almost 3months after, when I first came to him I told him how I was feeling. He made promises that he would change then repeatedly did what he told me he wouldn't. He's now trying to get therapy to keep our relationship together and so we can try keep our family together for our daughter. This video has helped me understand and I now have a little more knowledge on this subject, thank you. I'm praying he will change for the better.

Geoffrey you were so on point about how these communications should take place that I almost started answering back to you on your video. It is SO HARD when two people are on two different wave lengths and trying to get our points across that it gets exhausting and the hope nearly gone. Thank you for your insight 🙏 and I hope I can show my spouse without it looking like criticism. I would want us both to apply these strategies. I also like what you said that relationship is an emotional game and not a logical game. It really touches me because I'm a programmer and most of the time I think logical even in my relationship. What if you're the instigator, if you cheated a long time ago and you cant remember all of the reasons why you did what you did?? I feel so lost and confused and desperate. My wife is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I made the biggest mistakes imaginable and I just recently opened up to my wife about it. Now I have to put together the pieces of what happened when all of those pieces are buried... somewhere that I cant remember. I cant find the root. I still feel horrible after I was caught texting another girl. we talked about why I did it and we both decided to give each other space and work on ourselves because my girlfriend still really wants to be with me so I’ve asked her different ways I could improve the relationship and she’s been asking me how she could too. I suspected that something was going on between her and my cousin. There were many red flags. I came to find out last night that she had been having an affair with him, and they are now dating. Im at a loss for words. I don't know what to do or what to think. My family and one of my closest friends was sleeping with my wife in our home while I was at work. The betrayal, lying, and sneaking has made it very hard for me ro trust anyone now. My own family was violating my marriage and trust. That my wife can do that to me as well hurts more than I can bare. I don't know what to do..

It took me about 24 hours to get the concrete proof that I needed and I ended the relationship the next morning and kicked her out that evening. Cari - Nope. In order for you to build safety for your partner, you need to learn how to master the frameworks and the mindsets. You master the frameworks and mindsets, you grow your self-esteem (Self efficacy and self-worth). You grow your self esteem, you no longer NEED safety yourself. You can WANT safety, but you won't NEED safety. This is the essence of what makes great leaders.

I found out the root cause of the cheating is my ability to be a financial provider for the family. During this COVID pandemic I will find a work and work till I have sufficient cash but here's my question. Is this a justified cause for me to be happy if I can provide and just neglect the fact she cheated? My mindset is not to have a broken family but I freeze thinking about trusting her again if ran out of money. Need your advice.

Yup - We talk about this. Two things: 1) It's not about the WHAT, but the HOW. We recently made a video about this. 2) This is a classic paradox of change and why you need to be able to thrive through resistance via your internal shifts. I have many videos on this too. Not unique. Everyone faces the same things :)

@@kencoleman200 If I told you it is possible, you would not believe me anyway. You need to change your whole paradigm of how you think about this. I have lots of client interviews with people who went through this. Browse them if you have time.

Hey Geoffrey, im having the situation where i was attempting to cheat butbi could not go trough with it because i thought about it not being worth the risk, so i backed out and left everything out of my life and kept working on my relationship, then couple of weeks ago she found out what happened and she asked me for space im looking trough these videos and was able to understand the problem but i feel the situation might be different maybe youre able to clarify if im doing things right or not i really dont want our relationship to end

Hi Ninah Roy, My only suggestions is to have an open and honest discussion about the pain and hurt you two feel. Isn't this what partners are suppose to do, work through tough issues and differences?

If your partner dont want to give u chance to rebuild trust, dnt response u.Ignore your calls, txt. Then what should i do? There's any hope?

Idk if this message gonna be too late cause the vid is old but im having problems with my wife, we've been together for 7 years and she broke up with me for things I did wrong in the past wich seem she kept them and also cause I mistreated her and ignored her by not giving the attention she deserved , I've been watching all your vids to try to understand and I have at least most of it but while I'm trying to work on my self to prove my self I'm worth and can fix things up by my action while letting her heal and giving her space I still feel like it might not work and like you said before she can see through my stuff according to her but im being as unique and honest as I can be... what am I doing wrong???

I've been with my girl for 6 and a half years. 3 weeks ago she accused me of cheating for the millionth time of cheating, because I could not answer her call while in a meeting. I video called her back while in the meeting, but she hung up after 10 seconds. I always fall to my knees trying to convince my innocence's to her, but I was so exhausted of the accusations this time that I just texted her "ok" after all the accusations. It's been 3 weeks, and she just blocked me on social media today, even though all I have said to her since was "merry christmas". Fun holiday season for me.

I cyber cheated and she forgave but she broke up with me eventually. Toward the end she was very cold and would cancel on me. She sent me a txt that it wasn’t gonna work out and that it was over. She didn’t even want to see me.
