I installed this kit in my Baja yesterday, my size 14 was much happier. The pedal feel on the clutch was different, it felt more positive or connected. I installed the roller pedal for the accelerator cable the wrong way, it was nice taking the assembly back out and not fiddling with the clutch cable trying to get it back together.

Take a real good, close look at that brake pedal to master cylinder pin. Years ago the one in my buggy decided to break in half just as I was approaching US1 in Florida (after leaving a restaurant/bar where I'd had a few.) First press went to the floor, second press was at the top and rock hard with no brakes! Luckily I was able to stop with the parking brake just before sliding onto the highway and into cross traffic. The first press broke the rod/pin, the wrap spring lifted the pedal back up, allowing the pin to droop down and wedge solid against the floor.

I have still to this day never taken one of those apart... repaired many, but never disassembled. I would like to space out all the pedals a little further, spacer kits seem to only move the clutch. Probably gonna "Duckman" a kit of my own. I have more of an issue between the brake pedal and the tunnel, I either can't get on the gas or can't get my foot back out! Haha!

True!! I wanted to slightly bend the brake pedal over further. Not a bad idea at all. I’ll definitely be watching to see if you do that. The big boy clutch pedal extender really makes a big difference brother. And I notice a roller pedal gives more space to it. Although it could be a placebo. 🤦🏼‍♂️😁

I realize this is an older video, but when using a punch use vicegrips on the punch. You can hold it steady and it saves your fingers/ hand. For loose pins, take a hammer and place the pin on your vice and hit the pin just enough to flatten the pin. That will take out the slack. Also use the vicegrips. Remember to maintain the chamber on the end of the pin.

Cause I'm too lazy to put on a rubber doughnut over the Punch and....ya won't get hammered!! lol Also, perhaps using a Blunt End round chisel instead of a pointed one which will flare out the pin and really be stuck even more. I know this video is a year old...but...wanted to comment anyway. Few years ago now, I had a stand at the Sacramento Bug-O-Rama for my car club and the guy who makes the Big Boy pedal kit, and his wife, had a stand about 50 feet down from me. I got to talking to him and after seeing the innovations on this set up, I bought this kit and the pedal kit for both my son's car and my own. I installed the kits on both cars. What a game changer. Both cars had all of the issues the guy details in his video. The clutch cable attachment is the way it should have come from the factory. It absolutely changes a pain-in-the-ass job into something simple and easy. The real innovation, however, is the pedal. The movement becomes smooth and effortless. My original pedal assembly always had a catch in the movement, caused by bent parts. The new assembly cannot bend like the factory parts can. This set up truely is an advancement of our hobby.

I am doing the pedal cluster too. I will consider the big boy upgrade, thanks for demonstrating it. For me the clutch pedal pin was not too bad to get out but the pedal was VERY tight on the shaft. Took a lot of banging to free it. I used a vice all the way through the process..

As someone tall, with big feet and long legs, I notice my hip would get sore driving the beetle. It made sense. Pushing the clutch a hundred times a day. and having to cock my leg sideways a bit. My concern is that I had to buy lhd pans for my rhd so the groove for the pedal stop isn't there, nor is the thread. I'm going to use a stainless threaded insert and hope it holds up.
