How To Really Tell If A Car Is Safe Or Not? (Car Myths, Ft. VW Taigun)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The modern car does many things in the background. Like destroying itself to protect you. There's a reason why they seem to keep getting bigger too! There are also a whole bunch of laws they must fall in line with, and other things that cause still other features and traits that'll probably annoy you, or be extremely unhelpful in helping you form an impression of them. Kartikeya's busting some myths with a Volkswagen Taigun, and Rohan's a stellar learner.

Writing is seriously underappreciated. Everyone praises the MotorInc production team for the video, the aesthetics and everything in between (and they are 100% right!), but they forget about the BRILLIANT NARRATIVE that ties everything together, keeping the viewer interested. You can have the best production team in the industry and still make meh content. Brilliant video as always!

It's hard to understand, but people need to know that everything is designed to break. They must break. We engineers (I'm in FEA) burn our head daily to design vehicles and components to break in certain way at certain force to keep the humans safe. So when I see a short like "Nexon vs Verna, Tata-build quality ka baap" showing no dents on Nexon in small collision, I know that occupants in Nexon experienced more "g"s and more 'hurt' than the other car.. reading comment section is fun😅

@saurabh Nexon owners might have experienced more G's but they don't complain that they are hurt because G forces are well within the tolerable limits. And they like the fact that they don't have to pay a lot in repairs because of Nexon's better build quality.

i absolutely agree and can understand what u want to say. im a cyclist too our helmets are as expensive or even more expensive than the moterbike helmets and are build to ride a bycycle at 70+ kmph speeds. but the material used is in the product is mostly polycarbonate, foam and cushions inside, they crack and break easily even being that expensive and a so called "Award winning designs" !. can we say it is cheap ? well they are designed and made in such a way that it can protect cyclist in an incident by cracking and transfering that energy equally around and away form the head by breaking itself in that way. the impact is minimal. i think cycle helmets are the best example of the term- not everything that breaks easily are cheap, those are engineering at its best.

From my experience, 1.5 lt engine has higher fuel economy than the 1lt engine. In Bangalore, I get 12 - 14 kmpl and on highways 18 - 20 kmpl. There are few things keep in mind while driving the Taigun 1.5 lt 1) the cylinder deactivation technology is a boon. Whenever your car runs on 2 cylinder mode, you are bound to get fuel economy 2) avoid unnecessary acceleration and braking 3) use the auto-off feature as much as possible. It save a lot of fuel.
Great script , even better execution, Didn't know paid promotions could be this much fun, thanks.

Quite informative, Kartik. On the point of FE. We’ve a Sonet 1L TC DCT MY2023 E20 compatible, approx. 200 kg less than Kushaq/Tiagun, which struggles to give double digit FE in trafffic conditions of Delhi/NCR despite refueling with HPCL e20 petrol. We also have a MY2015 I20 MT 1.2L MPI which barely gives a FE of 10-11 Knol in similar conditions. We previously owned MY2014 Swift 1.2L MPI MT which was giving a FE of 14-15 Knol in similar conditions. We also own a Kushaq 1L MT which is giving FE of 11-13.5 Knol in similar conditions. Kindly clarify if the the Tiagun that you speak of in your video is e20 compatible, MT/AT, refilled with 91/95 octane/e20 petrol, traffic conditions being driven in and the tyre pressure maintained while driving and whether you’re driving 1L or 1.5L TSI. Further, as you have specifically pointed out FE as a shortcoming of Tiagun, kindly also inform us how these FE figures stand against its direct competitors.

Recently drove my brother’s Taigun 1.0 AT (Was the driver for the day on his wedding day). The car definitely felt better built than my Skoda Slavia as far as interior panels are concerned. Regarding the 1.0 ltr engine, the manual was far more fuel efficient than the 1.0 AT. Rapid used to give me not less than 10 in the city and about 17 to 25 on the highways (Depending on various factors like speed, load, outside temperature among others). I was surprised that the 1.0 AT couldn’t cross 15 on the highway with 4 people inside and no luggage. In the city it was about 8kmpl. Coming back to the interiors, I felt that the Rapid was better built than modern cars atleast as far as interiors are concerned. It never rattled inside till the time I sold it. Can’t say the same for Taigun and Slavia that have started rattling in less than 10K KMs.

@@motorinc FAQ. Absolutely love it
Hey MotorInc team, I have a couple of things to add, or request, as they might be. 1. Can we have a video on how GNCAP ratings work(since there are way too many inconsistencies), and how different countries have different norms to govern safety? Because I for the longest time have believed GNCAP Rating is not an exact Safety Rating, as it operates under very specific circumstances . More importantly, it operates post the occurrence of a crash while the prevention of a crash through better brakes, for example, I believe should also be considered when rating a car for safety. There’s also the case of how they generally test base models but sometimes top variants, as for the Kushaq/Taigun. Why? (Hope the VW army isn’t reading this) 2. Can you please review the new Verna? I am planning to buy one, and I’m confused between that and the Virtus. And yes, what do you think of the design? Ngl I am leaning towards the Verna because GT is out of my budget and for the price of the 1.0 Turbo on the VW I can get the Verna Turbo. But considering all the hate it’s getting, I don’t wanna make a decision I regret (like the bendy car xD)

For the VW owners, how's the maintenance of the car long term ? When I took a test drive of the Virtus and Taigun, the salesman was insistent that the charges are not as high as the older models. What's the actual average like ?
Bought Taigun after a lot of research and i am happy about it after 35000km and 1.5 years, Got a huge discount of 2 lakh got it in 13.85 lakh on road ( 15year Registration) including free 4 year service value pack of 60000km free services
Dude!!!! I barely cry but THIS video made me shed a tear, outstanding content brothers... Please make more like these. It's good to see that these "technical" know hows can be understood in a funny way... Outstanding video...
vw top model made in germany cc was very stable at high speed, cornering or braking partly due to its heavy weight and engineering in usa a decade back, now tata makes same bling in smaller cars like tiago which is surprisingly heavy and superb cornering ability at high speeds as per its weight, one more thing is if bonnet hub is heavy then its got be safe both vw cc and tiagos bonnet are damn heavy, reminding me of ambassador door thuds

Hi Karthikeya & Team, Ideally, which car would be safer for a family of 4: 1) Car with 4/5 star NCAP rating but only 2 airbags. 2) Car with 2/3 star NCAP rating but 6 airbags. So, while buying a car, should we prefer a car with more airbags or higher NCAP rating?
What do you guys think about the Seltos and the Sonet? The Seltos that's sold abroad has scored 5 stars. So they can clearly make a safe car. But the ones in India have only got 3 stars. I know stars aren't the be all, end all. But it seems like them not valuing the Indian market.

Can you tell me which is a good automatic option under 10 lakhs?
I think now I know how to promote a VW car. Now a days what I feel was six layer paint coat is thicker than the metal sheet inside. Now a days car manufacturers keep on adding technologies for safety rather building solid. Modern cars are like reusable masks, protects you atmost single time. Once accident happens nothing to recover or reuse except just a crushed soft drinking can. In olden days car means it is for life time. Now it is for 5 years after that you forced to change because high maintenance cost or other factors. Car manufacturers following electrical bulb strategy, providing less life time to car so that customers keep buying new cars. Simply electeical bulbs, mobile phones and now cars. They are following the same strategy we can not escape.
