I just started my MA in Philosophy and I found that if I read 5-10 pages of different texts in one sitting, the themes and ideas eventually overlap and I get a better picture of the ideas behind the writing. It's much more useful than trying to read large chunks of texts by the same author and getting confused. Great video! Deserves more views!

If I find a book difficult to read, instead of wrestling I find an alternative if available for that topic. The same goes for academic books.

Brick books can be intimidating. If I’m working my way through a complex and thick book -- the Bible, Thinking fast and slow, Grant--then I usually read really short ones at the same time. This way I can get a sense of progress from completing the shorter ones while slowly chipping of the pages on the big book.

I kinda like you're trick, when you didn't understand one word in a book, I just need to search it up to know what is the meaning of it. thanks!

Every time I read difficult books it makes me realize how dumb I am😭 I have a nonfiction book that I am reading for almost a month and it hasn't finished yet. It talks about history, politics, it's too hard for me but I am also curious 😶 so I keep going even only 10 pages.

I forgot to mention in the video that when you read more, you become telepathic and you can read people's minds. 🤣 An added benefit of reading more. 📚 So glad the video helped.

Hey Aun, what does it mean that’s a fine line?

  • @AunAbdi

The ability to choose whether to quit a book or not because of its difficulty is up to the reader. The fine line is the ability to make the distinction between these two choices.

Reading text books is difficult. Reading 40ish pages a day is not enough. But how long does it take an average person to read 40 pages in one day? Just trying to know if I am too slow. I actually have to listen to the chapter and try to follow the word markers. Sometimes I have to go back and repeat the sections. Appreciate your videos.

40 pages should take no longer than 60 minutes, if you're a beginner reader.
