This has to be the most in-depth video on reading coverages that I’ve seen on KZread. Good stuff. No one else I’ ve seen has ever talked about looking at the slot cornerback.

​@@reezyreece9242 Tbh there maybe certain ways but I find it much easier in any kind of spread formations like Doubles. Doubles Y flex. Any things that says Spread. And Normal Y off things like that. Instead of bunch or compressed formations

Great video my guy. I’ve watched I feel like every pre-snap read video there is and I feel like I’ve gotten pretty good at reading defenses pre-snap. You should make a video on how to read defenses post-snap against people who auto base align in their settings because there’s no pre-snap read for that since everything looks the same.

this video is really good on how to read defense very detailed. however what if your going against a like 4-3 or something other than nickel, dime, dollar. and your in gun. will it be different to read?

I can't front its the little details for me 👍 especially when about cover 3 Seam and or Sky. And same about cover 4 Drop and Quarters the little details 👍

4:58 The Most important Player to determine Coverage Shell in C2 Presnap look is the Nickel. Nickel is at 4 YD Depth inside of Slot if C2 Post-snap. 5:21 C3 Seam Has a C2 Presnap look. The Nickel CB lines up parallel to Slot which is a Tell that it is in fact NOT a C2 and is a C3 Seam. 5:50 C3 SKY Nickel CB 5 Yards off and outside of Slot 6:24 In C3 with SEAM FLATS, the Nickel CB is 1 YD closer to LOS than LBs 7:58 Summary: Nickel in Curl Flats(C3 Sky or C4 Drop) assignment is aligned OUTSIDE of Slot. Nickel in Hook(C2) is aligned INSIDE of Slot 4 Yards Off. C3 Seam Zone has a C2 presnap look in which case the NICKEL IS PARALLEL TO SLOT. If it is showing C3 everywhere else, look at Nickel to see if he is 1 Yard closer to LOS than LBs(Seam Flat) or 5 yards off(Curl Flat)

@@reezyreece9242 Read Alignment of DBs to identify presnap show. Do not depend on the presnap show. Instead watch the movement of the Safeties at snap.

It's easier to read the defense when they base align and you are in a trip formation.The outside corners line up different depending on what type of coverage they are in.

You have to be careful they aren't baiting you by aligning the defense in opposit formations

do you know how to determine that?

CBs will always always play 3 different shades. Outside. Inside. Or Even. No matter what. The easiest way for me to read the Defense is in spread formation types. I have a hard time with the bunch or compressed formations to be honest.

Base align doesn't have many tells to tip off the coverage, unfortunately! It's more of a post-snap read!
