I wanted to thank you officially. I use to be a Dental Assistant and came a truck driver. I’m now a little over a year. I’ve watched your videos and they have been very very helpful. You get to the point. Explain in detail. Not all the complaining. Thank you and please stay like you are

I liked his explanation as well. Going to school soon for it and wanted a refresher on everything. Wanted to make sure when I got a job that I would do it well.
I never knew how to read a map, until I watched this video! Thank You for the knowledge Junior.😎👍
Man, ive been a local truck driver for five years now. Just started a regional gig only in the truck mon - fri, home on weekends. I want to say thank you so much, because this video is packed with so much meaningful information. Ive learned a lot. Great job!!!!

There may be better video's out there for teaching beginners how to use a trucker atlas, & if there are I haven't run across them yet. This one is VERY good & teaches the majority of what most drivers need to get by with. I have sent this to numerous drivers that needed help & they appreciate it very much. Keep up the good work, especially WITHOUT all the bull music you find on some. Very good job. 40+ yr veteran otr Hopefully you'll do one that teaches the info in the front of the atlas, low bridges, restricted roads & such & how to locate them on the map. Reading & Using a map is a dying art at the very least.
a dying skill these days it seems as most carriers have navigo, etc... still an important thing to know in my opinion and going over the final few miles in your head, including the exits, streets, etc. can save many problems. Keep up the selfless and info rich videos Junior, newbies can learn so much from you via youtube, I have been around forever it seems and really enjoy and appreciate what you do.

I learned how to read a map when I was 7. I don't trust technology. What if a solar storm hits and all electronics get glitchy and your GPS is thrown off? I'll grab my Truck Atlas and continue to my pick/drop. Not sure what others my age (23) are gonna do.
@zachz699

@@MrDaddieD Your truck is full of technology unless you are in an antique. Automatic slack adjusters, sensors and abs power steering the list goes on and on. Not to mention even an antique truck IS technology in itself. You aren't the only 20 something that can read a map dude lol, you aren't special

@@zachz699 I know. It's not that difficult to learn even if someone doesn't know how. It's a simple skill to learn within a week. Even if his technology did go all "glitchy" he would still have his phone. It's just good to know the basics.
Thank you for sharing!! I'm in trucking school right now. You explained it better. Be blessed bro and safe travels.
I have a carrier Road Atlas but never used it because of how simple and fast the truck GPS is. But after watching this video, I realized I could have done better if I didn’t rely solely on the truck GPS. Thank You again for Sharing!
would also like to add, if you miss a turn or exit, don't panic...even if it is uncomfortable. Go to the next exit, 3 lefts make a right, etc...think logically and develop common sense if needed, trust your gut, if it doesn't feel or look right, it probably isn't.

Junior, a 3 digit interstate starting with an even number (2, 4, 6 or 8) is a spur interstate through or around a city but an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9) is a drop off that does not connect to the parent interstate at both ends.

Good information! Some new things and some I forgot. Thank you.
This is so important. I got lazy a couple months ago, didn't check my route from Philly to Long Island, just relied on GPS. The GPS glitched and I ended up in Midtown Manhattan. Fck that noise. Never again.

Hey Qvo Junior, oye vato I'm gonna be honest and say I love your channel. You have top quality content, and material for many newbies. When I started driving trucks back in the mid 2000s, there wasn't smart phones with GPS, there wasn't tablets with GPS. I had to learn to use maps, I did mostly local so I was okay. I would miss the exits here and there when I went out of state a few times. Man I wish I would have had you as a trainer, you seem to teach your students so much valuable info. My question is did you have a good trainer to teach you all tricks of the trade, or did you have learn all these skills on your own time?
@JuniorHonduras

I really appreciate it and thanks for watching the videos. I would also like to thank you for your support. Yes I had a good trainer myself and he taught me a lot of things. I STILL TO DATE USE those methods and its what I teach my students. I have fine tuned (tweaked) those methods and implemented some of my own. I love to teach those who want to be taught. I am strict but that is because this is no JOKE. I like everyone else wants to go home and see their families. Thank you again and be safe out there 🇭🇳👍🏽😎👍🏽🇭🇳

Should you avoid all major cities, if not then what indications tell you its not gonna be difficult to drive through? I'm guessing a lot of roads close together would indicate a lot of traffic
Junior can you please show how to find the building of where you’re going on the map
So why did the clearance off i95 in new York City after going over the GW bridge say 12 feet 10 inches yet it is indicated as a truck route on the atlas?
Man..... I wish I woulda had you got a trainer

a little confusing towards the end of the video, do i look at the big map first to see which interstate runs thru the states im going thru, or do i find the location route first?
I am not a truck driver but I'm trying to learn how to read one of these so I wont have to keep depending on GPS off my cell phone
This is a drying skill which sucks. Luckily for me my dad taught me how to read a map years ago when he used to drive rigs
