Are you pointing at the wrong plate in the beginning? You say that it is an angle but I don't see it. Looks like you meant to point at the beam below. Am I missing something?

You are correct. He pointed at what’s called a “base plate” that is used at the base of a column.

@@silentdwak A beam that it used vertically in ironworking is called a column. The “end plate” as you call it, is called a base plate, because the plate is welded at the base of the column. It is then anchored into the ground through the holes you can see in the video, if it’s on ground level. Or connected to another column if on the second floor or above, usually with A325 structural bolts.

it just depends on who you work for, some shops call them fab. drawings, and some call the shop drawings.
