Reading is amazing, but there was a moment in my life were I stopped reading. Fast forward to before I entered to my second semester in college, I found my self really depressed; so I decided to read a self help book ( the reason that I started the book was because I was having suicidal thoughts). When I finished the book I apply every tip the book provided me. I found out that my life was changing for the better. PS. I'm still on my second semester I'm just about to finish it. My relationship with my friends and family is exactly were I always wanted them to be.

I always recommend reading books before bed and carrying a book with you at all times. Reading can be relaxing and can help people fall asleep. The problem with sleep today is often due to light. We become sleepy when it's dark and awake when its bright. People tend to use electronics before bed, which emit light and cause the brain to think it is still day, thus not releasing melatonin. Reading doesn't release light and can be read in a dim setting meaning it doesn't interfere with melatonin production. Also, when you carry a book around, you can read it everytime you have a break. I have heard that Stephen King does this and that people have seen him reading while waiting in line. We spend so much of our day waiting and most of that waiting, we are on our phones and such. You can read more just by replacing your phone with a book during those waiting periods.

If you have something that you really want in your life, spend lots of time reading about it. The more you read the more ideas will pop up the more creative your gonna start to get. Your subreadscious mind doesn't care if your vision is crazy. It doesnt care if you dont know how to do it. When you see a thing clearly in your mind, your creative "reading mechanism" within you takes over and does the job much better than you could do it by readscious effort or readpower. A different psychedelic from a different planet every nanosecond. All sorts of dreams are possible. The human nervous system cannot tell the difference between an "actual" readxperience and an readxperience imagined vividly and in detail. Synthesize "experience," to literally create experience, and control it, in the laboratory of our minds. A vision is a very emotional image, the most powerful image that you can come up with for yourself at this time. This vision will become like a hallucination in other peoples mind and this could be the cause of them creating extraordinary things.

This needs more views, b/c it is very informative and very well put together. I've been using these reading hacks on my own, I didn't know there was an official name for the tricks. I just finished Cesare's Clown in a Cornfield. I honored my reading appointments by reading 17 pages in the morning after work, and another 17 pages before going to work. That's 34 pages a day for 5 days; it was 341 pages long, so I read the remaining pages over the weekend. I keep a reading log, so I associate starting and finishing books with logging each book(s) read each week. Last year, I read 104 books-that's 104 entries logged!

I can't agree more. When I started reading English classic books as an adult to improve the language (was homeless back then), I used to stop at every other word to translate it and it took ages... then it started to be one chapter a day, then I started to read quicker week by week the more I used to it and it became one (200 pages) book a day, now here I am three years later, a graduate with a BA of English Literature working on his own books. Thank you for this reminder... now I miss reading again and can't wait to read all the new three books I just bought because work led me to lose all motivation.

True and tried tricks, they're extremely helpful. Besides, in order for you to increase your motivation while reading and be active readers try to find a purpose for reading, and before you start reading skimm and scan the book in hand so as to increase your enthusiasm and eagerness to push yourself to read it . In addition, you can choose books from fields you're interested in and as you read take side notes and the gist from each chapter of the book. This will help you a lot to better understand what you read and benefit from it as well.

In this Internet age, in this impetuous age, more and more people find it hard to settle down and read a book. Short video, fragmented information gradually become the mainstream, their trend is unstoppable. But reading in this era can still give us a chance to let our heart quiet, away from the noise, only the fragrance of the book reverberated.

When I ride the bus, I read. If I need to wait somewhere, read. Before bed, read. After I wake up, read. Easy and fun. I like cues more than reminders. I have a book light which really helps with reading before bed and it ended up being incredibly useful. They can last pretty long, decent for blackouts.

Little did I know I was already using the 'temptaion bundling' technique on other things without even realizing it, e.g. for my physio sessions. Great advice unless you are a bit OCD. In this case, Step 1 can make reading into yet another 'obsession' to fulfill comppulsively in order to get down to the next one after the next one afer the next...
