    Ok just the clarify, in Sweden for example we have a mandatory driving course on slippery roads. It's basically a course in how to recover a car, in order to recover a car you must loose controll of the car and that's why we teach people the scandi flick. We're not scandi flickin our way into parking spots :D

    Your remarks about focusing on consistency first is really important. However, I feel that even beginners benefit from knowing about advanced techniques so they can start to apply them when comfortable. Additionally, I think corner linking is something every player regardless of skill should think about! Beginners won’t be able to spot and take the best line, but to have awareness of how corners work together is important for beginners to not slide off the track and hit cliffs! That all being said, I’m coming up on 100 hours in dirt 2 so I really appreciate the articulate advice. Excited to practice, cheers!

    Your videos have been super helpful. I noticed you mostly drive AWDs in your videos though. Maybe you could do a video that goes over the different techniques needed for different drivetrains. I like driving some of the older FWDs in DR2, but most of the learning videos focus on AWD and RWD.

    Great tips. I play with a gamepad (Dual Shock 4) and have Clutch bound to L1, and Handbrake bound to Right Stick > Right. This allows me to do the necessary mix of handbrake, throttle, brake, and clutch while still steering, allowing clutch kicks at the end of hairpins and similar situations. Also, having the analog input of the analog stick for the handbrake is seriously game changing! When you just use a button, it's 100% handbrake every time you press it, which can kill a lot of speed or send you into too strong a slide. Being able to tap it for 20% power, juuuust enough to get the back end sliding without killing too much speed or losing control, is tremendous!

    @@averagebrownguy4193 Manual Sequential. You don't need to clutch for every shift, but you can press the clutch button to use the clutch at any time, even when the driver isn't shifting. Sometimes you're better off doing a "clutch kick" instead of downshifting, which is just pressing in the clutch while hitting the throttle for a moment to get the revs high, giving you better acceleration. You can also use it in RWD cars, or AWD cars with the torque balance mostly to the rear, to get the revs really high to cause the rear tires to spin and lose traction. You can do this after you've started your turn-in to swing the back end of the car around a turn rather than using the handbrake.

    Left foot braking is perfect when combined with swinging the into a jump,I like to do that in Finland with the Lancia,I sing it sideways entering really fast,but as I give throttle counter steering I left foot pump the brakes and I manage not to lose RPM,and exit with zero turbo lag and not going sideways

  • @F7CK8UD

    I agree with that whole don't use the handbrake thought. I find it super useful if maybe your mind blanks for a second as a last resort to lose speed into a super fast corner to get it to come around and lose speed quickly but a good left foot brake flick works better and smoother 9/10 times

    What i will say is kind of obvious but listening CAREFULLY the co driver is essencial, now, with that what i do (because he is giving info, normally, two turns ahead) is two repeat in my head what he said. this for me became quite useful, specially coming out of a very hard turn or set of turns. Almost everytime i would relax for a fraction of a second and loose concentration.. This says that am still an amateur eheh but maybe it can help some of you out there

    I have a question. It is mentioned in the video that left foot braking helps with mid corner corrections, but what about throttle modulation? Does that not do the same thing? I.e. lift off oversteer.

  • @humandroid53

    @humandroid53

    3 жыл бұрын

    Correct. I'm a fairly casual player but constantly use lifting off the throttle to get the car to grip and turn. Only a little bit at a time but it does the job and keeps you in your flow. A dab of the brakes helps a bit more, another dab if you're a little fast. You want to maintain momentum as much as possible.

Gas and brake shift the cars weight one way or the other and if you ask yourself where the grip needs to be you can start implementing the required inputs to get maximum grip where its needed.

    All things good, but dislike for audio. Clean sounds of the game (co-pilot and engine) they are useless. Bump up you voice. It is impossible to hear anything. At all ask somebody else to read the text for you, or use robot. Sorry, but your voice is awful.

    Turn your volume up. I'm a southern American we have very strong accents vastly different from his and I can understand him fine on terrible little cell phone speakers. Also you are extremely self centered I'm assuming you are a single child who was quite spoiled given someone went through the effort to make something to help us for free and you figured it was a solid idea to tell him that his voice sounds awful. You can actually give constructive criticism without acting so entitled. What an ugly, unlikable person you are.
