After finding the right key, I like to commit this to the tracks, so that there's no transpose track or settings in the tracks themselves. Just for oversight and I find it easier to look up and play / overdub new or existing parts. But as always, good video, that'll help quite a few people :).

Hi Chris, landed up here when I realized that the song I scored sounds good when I sing on a semitone higher. (Eflat minor to Eminor). I am just worried about the change in the sound quality of the audio stems if I transpose. Will transposing deteriorate the audio quality? I feel as if they lost the smoothness or is tht purely psychological? Waiting for your reply. Thanks!

Hi Chris, I would kindly like to have your opinion: having to change the pitch of some audio tracks (acoustic guitar), if I use the automatic transposition function (I'm in Cubase 10.5) in this case bringing it 1 tone below what was recorded, you will loose sound quality? Or maybe it would be better to play the part one more time? Thank you.

Hi Chris! I have two questions: 1. This function is not available in the Elements version, right? 2. What about e.g. the EQs you put on your tracks before transposition? Do they shift as well? For, if they don't, they may need some readjustments... By the way, I'm totally impressed with both the transpose function and your video. :-) As for the transposition, I guess all algorithms work well if you allow for a time shift, too, so that e.g. shifting the pitch up causes the speed to go up by the same factor. But this one you just demonstrated is really good. Am I missing something?

A related question; If you set a project rootkey, you can even browse in mediabay and the samples will get automatically transposed, which is a great feature. Also with already imported samples you can set these to 'independent' so they won't get transposed. And now my question: If you set a project rootkey, is it possible to browse mediabay without samples being automatically transposed? Second question: When I audition samples while the project is playing, long samples won't play till the end. Is there a way to do so or to choose a startpoint?

But when "Wait for project to Play" is activated, the sample you're listening to will start playing according to where the playhead position is in your project. The sample will always start at bar1 and loop form there. Hope that helps

Yes, you have to take this into account. I record (or program) the key switches on a separate MIDI-track which I can set to "independent". I created drum maps for some key switch instruments which show me the names of the key swiches. It's a work around and can somtimes be quite annoying. I wish Steinberg would rewrite the key editor and would integrate a special area in which you can create a key switch map and which will not be transposed whith the notes (similar to the expression map which is not suitable for some virtual instruments).
