Fantastic video Chris! what a time saver! thank you as always.
Thanks for this Chris! Again, another really helpful vid for us Cubasers.
Thanks Chris. Awesome feature and video. Remixing a track from several years ago and wanted to drop it 3 semitones. Just imported my old guitar parts and transposed them, saved me playing them again. Now messing around with the Transpose track to see what else I can do
As always Chris, excelent. Thanks a lot.
Good stuff! Thanks Chris!

Also for others, you needs to enable info line (Set up Window layout, in top right corner) first in Cubase, otherwise you will not get that bar with Transpose. 🙂

Thanks a lot for another great video Chris. I am trying to convert midi tracks from conventional scales into different modes using cubase 11 pro. Can this be done do you know? Many thanks.
After finding the right key, I like to commit this to the tracks, so that there's no transpose track or settings in the tracks themselves. Just for oversight and I find it easier to look up and play / overdub new or existing parts. But as always, good video, that'll help quite a few people :).

Hi Chris, BIG fan of the channel, is there a way to have my own midi cords and drag/move them into a cord track?
Hi Chris, landed up here when I realized that the song I scored sounds good when I sing on a semitone higher. (Eflat minor to Eminor). I am just worried about the change in the sound quality of the audio stems if I transpose. Will transposing deteriorate the audio quality? I feel as if they lost the smoothness or is tht purely psychological? Waiting for your reply. Thanks!
BIG LIKE.
Hello, I have a question, you can ask for a video like in cubase from any sample to make a melody in piano roll and how to tune any samples ???? This is how I look at you tube and I am looking for such a tutorial and I can not find anything like this in the topic of making any sample of your own melody in a piano roll in cubase.
Is it equally helpful whole transposing piano or other VST's. Any pointers? Would be so helpful
Great video - just wondering, when you use the Transpose Track method, where is it getting its pitch shifting algorithm? How does it know which one you want to use?

Salut Alain, The 2 methods work the same way, they will apply the same algorythm in place on those events
Great video Does! Does the chord track update with the transpose?

Could you elaborate on how this (method one esp) correlations and interacts with the Chord track and/or project key if set?

A question on the global transpose feature - what happens when you bounce / render tracks? Are they bounced in the new key and inserted as "don't transpose" or are they bounced untransposed?
@mixdownonline
4 жыл бұрын
Yes they are bounce to the new key and the Transpose gets back to 0 cause it's a new event
Chris, please help. I have a brand new version of Cubase 11 Elements. I don't see that little strip of information that you show on your screen where you can make the changes for transposing. I've fiddled with all types of settings and I can't find it. Is it not available on the elements. I can find work arounds to change the keys of any midi tracks, but nothing to change audio track. Please help! Thanks in advance.
My keyboard don't HV transpose, can I transpose a track before playing in a midi track?. For example, I only no how to play on key F, so I want to record someone snd the person is singing on A, can I transpose it to the key he is singing and play alone while he sings? Am using cubase 12
Hey chris, when i try to click where you did to change the algorithm, nothing happens, like its as if there is no drop down box with elastique and standard settings, its just set to elastique time, but i cant chage it. any advice?
Hi Chris, what version of Cubase are you using?
Is there a way for this work even with Midi Modifiers? I program with Midi Modifiers all the time as I can only play in C or A minor 😁
I use to be an FL Studio user for almost ten years but since I tried Cubase and I learned it (thanks to you and to Steinberg for tutorials) I Felt in Love with this daw! It made my workflow much faster ! I will never go back! Thanks Chris! Greetings from Romania!

Can I import an mp3 of say, Summer of 69 backing track, then transpose the key down a tone?
I downloaded a cubase template. Do you know why this project starts at "0" instead of "1" ( Locator Timeline ). It annoys me. Is there any possibility to make it start at "1". ? thx. - Ps.: Got it - Display part offset.
I want a global transpose for all midi(except drums) and I want it on the midi input, So when I create a song template all my midi key tracks are set to one global input transpose setting? I have the transpose track working fine for clips set to follow but that is not what I want? Can you help me?
Hi Chris, I would kindly like to have your opinion: having to change the pitch of some audio tracks (acoustic guitar), if I use the automatic transposition function (I'm in Cubase 10.5) in this case bringing it 1 tone below what was recorded, you will loose sound quality? Or maybe it would be better to play the part one more time? Thank you.
@ShortFuseFighting
Жыл бұрын
you wouldnt wanna pitch shift the actual final version. i think in the example he used they just did it to see what sits the best with the vocalist. but im sure they rerecorded it in the proper key
Hey Chris, is it possible to transpose for example, single audio guitar loops from the mediabay ,to use them to fit properly in a song without loosing audio quality? Thanx

@@mixdownonline ok...thank you very much!!
Hi Chris! I have two questions: 1. This function is not available in the Elements version, right? 2. What about e.g. the EQs you put on your tracks before transposition? Do they shift as well? For, if they don't, they may need some readjustments... By the way, I'm totally impressed with both the transpose function and your video. :-) As for the transposition, I guess all algorithms work well if you allow for a time shift, too, so that e.g. shifting the pitch up causes the speed to go up by the same factor. But this one you just demonstrated is really good. Am I missing something?
@mixdownonline

1. Not available on Elements 2. No they will not. I always use this feature on the arrangement/Pre-production Stage. I don't use this while mixing

@@mixdownonline Thanks! By the way, I think the guys at Steinberg could perhaps in one of the future upgrades see to make the frequency-dependent effects changed automatically. It would be handy.

how to automate transpose on audio file on the timeline, i cant see how to do pitch automation in Cubase like ever other daw, even the midi pitch automation is kina bad
Thanks. That almost solved my problem, because the chord track did not transpose. Any ideas?
watt is dis some kind of futuristic cubase!! i thought we all stuck with the amazing cubase 5.....
Which is the best between the Transpose with Elastic Pro or using the Cubase plugin Pitch Shift with the MPEX 4 preset? Which is the most accurate?
@mixdownonline
4 жыл бұрын
I could not tell, I never compared both ways but you can't go wrong with Transpose with Elastic Pro
A related question; If you set a project rootkey, you can even browse in mediabay and the samples will get automatically transposed, which is a great feature. Also with already imported samples you can set these to 'independent' so they won't get transposed. And now my question: If you set a project rootkey, is it possible to browse mediabay without samples being automatically transposed? Second question: When I audition samples while the project is playing, long samples won't play till the end. Is there a way to do so or to choose a startpoint?

@mixdownonline
4 жыл бұрын
1. Yes, it's possible, in the media bay, just desactive "Align beats to Project" 2. Not sure I follow you. But when "Wait for project to Play" is activated, the sample you're listening to will start playing according to where the playhead position is in your project. The sample will always start at bar1 and loop form there. Hope that helps
I dont have algorithm tab? just the transpose
I dont have that info line how do i activate it?
Chris...how about changing from 440 hz to 432? How would one do that
@mixdownonline

Good question. From what I know, you have to change this within your VST Instruments and for audio you can use FINE-TUNE instead of Transpose. That will ajust the pitch by cents. Here's a Frequency to Sent calculator you can use www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-centsratio.htm
How about chord tracks they didnt change
Small question , your chord track does no follow the change .. how to do so ? Thank s

How to transpose in cubase element 8?
@mixdownonline
4 жыл бұрын
Not sure Elements has that option
!!!
Should be noted if you have key switches programmed this will mess those up.
@R.E.Transmitter
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you have to take this into account. I record (or program) the key switches on a separate MIDI-track which I can set to "independent". I created drum maps for some key switch instruments which show me the names of the key swiches. It's a work around and can somtimes be quite annoying. I wish Steinberg would rewrite the key editor and would integrate a special area in which you can create a key switch map and which will not be transposed whith the notes (similar to the expression map which is not suitable for some virtual instruments).
