How To Quickly Scan Documents in the Notes App
Did you know that your iPhone and iPad can Scan Documents and send them as PDFs? We’ve been scanning documents way before smartphones were available. The machines were clunky and expensive. With the new camera technology in your iPhone and iPad, it’s easy to turn any document into a digital version that’s always available.

Finally, we have an instructor that is not focussed on showing off skills by performing each task at double speed. In my observation this has been a stand out problem since computers first hit our desks years ago. Thank you for explaining the procedures at a speed which can easily be comprehended and understood by most people. Many other so called instructors could take a lesson from your methods. Thank you

Thanks a million Ellen. I am 80 years old and I have an IPhone 12 Pro. I am sick of having to resort to asking one of my Sons or Grandchildren how to do things. This scanning to notes and forwarding in a PDF format will be very useful to me. I have made a note of your Utube site, subscribed and will use it often. I’ll be honest, I hate technology, however if one knows how to use it, it is brilliant. I feel very sorry for people who have not made an effort to use modern technology. It has got to the point where if you can’t use it or understand it, one really can’t operate in this world we now live in. Your Utube channel is a Godsend for people like me. I like to be independent and not have to ask family how to do things. Thanks again, the most useful Utube channel I have found in years.

Hi From France - Thank you so much for taking the time to explain these features - Note for all the people mentioning they are old and so happy to find your channel : stop thinking you are old and please be aware these tools are complex and need explanations. I am 57, ex CEO of a decent size company in the silicon valley tech industry, and I am still very glad to find such channel and these very clear « stepbystep » explanations. You are as smart as anyone, how old you are ; but these modern tools need clear tutorial, like this one. Thanks again

Like you I'm the family tech guy but my tech background comes from the mainframe world. I'm an early adopter of the PC back in the MS DOS and PC DOS days but I'm 85 now and the tech world has progressed WAY past where I was when I retired so I'm basically needing to learn as fast as I can like everyone else just to keep up. I just discovered this channel and it's like gold! Thanks to Ellen for presenting technical information in a well thought out style that's easily absorbed. Good job!

Hello from Melbourne, Florida, and Iowa.. I’m a Snowbird and I travel quite a bit.. I’ve been using my iPhone 13. Looks like I need to get a 15…. I scan quite a bit to Dropbox. Your tip about clicking auto to manual is a tremendous lifesaver.. in the past, I’ve just been trying to hurry with my scans and I couldn’t figure out why I had to go so fast to get a good scan…. your tip on clicking the auto button to manual. Wow it made a big big difference. Keep coming out with all your new tips for people like me you’re great….

You might want to let your viewers know that this works to send a pdf to another iPhone or via email. It doesn't work if you are trying to text a pdf from an iPhone to an Android phone. I used it today, followed your great instructions, and everything worked perfectly with the exception of trying to send it to an Android. I sent it to her email instead. Love your videos. Thanks so much for posting them. I'm learning a lot.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Are you talking about a PDF scanned into the Notes app or a PDF that’s stored on your iPhone? Notes would not be compatible with Android but a regular PDF should be. Hope that helps.

@@EllensTipsForiOSOn my iPhone I scanned several pages into Notes and then converted them to pdf as instructed. I was able to send via Text Message to another iPhone but not to an Android phone. I found out the Android phone user's email address and sent the pdf that I had scanned into Note via email. When I googled sending pdf from iPhone to Android phone I saw that it can't be done. Only iPhone to iPhone but not iPhone to Android via Text.
