Also, you must press and hold Command BEFORE you click+drag clip; otherwise, it will delete the video and leave a gap from where you’re dragging from.

I used to use track select forward tool (A) , Now this is easier than that . thanks a lot from India

Thanks so much! This is especially helpful if you have a long video and you want to put an intro clip in or something without accidentally overlaying the clip over other clips and messing up your entire video.

Do you drag the clip into the sequence in between the clips on the sequence, or after the clip in the sequence? I didn't get that.

Awesome thank you! I have been selecting clips and dragging them out of the way to fit in another clip for so long. I finally looked up to see if there is a quicker way and am glad to find this.

thanks for this. can i ask - if you have a gap in the timeline adn you want to fill it with a clip to whatever length it needs to be to fill the gap how do you do that?

This was not was I was looking for but it gave me the idea of what to do so THANK YOU :D

Oh by the way people watching. I needed to insert a clip from the timeline another part of the timeline (not from the bin) and this worked the same within the timeline. Control key works the same for bin and timeline. That's so gold and I think of all the hundreds of hours I suffered. Now I'm free. :)
