Folding reflectors is one of the most basic and frustrating things for newer photographers to figure out. All photographers have struggled with this and Jason took a few moments to show his followers how to easily fold a reflector.

Thanks Jason! 6 years later and you still help people out of their folding struggle HAHAHA!
Oh my goodness, I love you right now! I’ve been fighting this thing for 45 mins.
After keeping my reflector stored expanded in the closet for months, it's now folded. You're making a difference around the world.

LOL glad it helped!
LOL at "seriously, it's been a long day!". I left mine sit in the room for weeks without tackling further. Have been waiting for today (to search up for help). Thank you!
You are the MAN! I've folded, tripped, unfolded, recorded, looked around to see who's watching, tripped again, began cursing under my breath, folded again, getting ticked, one more fold and there it is, ticked off, few choice words, stuffed it in the backseat, drove home and then I found you! Thank you!!!!!!
G*gdamnit! I've been struggling for ages and this geezer can do it with his eyes closed. Anyway, job done. Thanks for the help.
Third video I watched when I struggled to get my new backdrop folded back down. This was the one that worked for me. Easy, squick, did it on the first try. Great!
Saved my butt! Other explanations on KZread did not work for me. Thanks Jason!
Wow, its very quick and easy. Thank you so much.

I hope you go to heaven for helping people who are confused with the new reflector
THANKKKK YOUUUUUUU that was so easy after being so frustrating 😅
Posted almost 4 years ago but still SO very relevant and HELPFUL today!! It may seem like a small thing to some, but this is greatly appreciated. Thanks too for being so thorough and for making sure I know that I'm not the only one... AND for the laughs. :)
recently bought a rectangular reflectar 42"x72" and i looked so dumb trying to fold it during a shoot and had to just shove it in my car all the videos i kept finding was for a circular deflector so i really appreciate this video!! For such a small and basic video it really helped me out big time!! Thanks!
God damn it. Almost lost my mind folding our green screen. Have to do online class because of pandemic restrictions. Thank you for the tutorial.
I was sweating my brains out trying to fold this thing back up! I'm glad I was in the privacy of my home this time. THANK YOU!
Funny how the simple stuff is the stuff people get caught up with! I've seen that over and over. Good idea showing people Jason!
Even though this is a 7 minute long video, he explains how to do it in the first minute! Much better than the other videos.
You sir are of the bark art of getting those damn things back in the bag!!! Bravo

Me: fiddles with a seven foot reflector for 20 minutes Also me: watches this video once, does it it ten seconds. Thanks Jason!
Oh, thank you. Finally, I got my background folded correctly. It had been unfolded for a couple of months because I had given up.
I’m an actor trying to up my remote audition game and I’ve been confounded by my folding backdrop. This was an excellent lesson, this taught me how to fold it correctly, thank you!
My Wife needs to watch this, she almost knocks me out folding the sun visor reflectors in our car. LOL

Phew! I had been struggling for over half an hour and then did it first time after watching your video. In fact I thought I had broken the metal rim at one stage and was about to throw it in the bin. Well done!
Ty ty ty ty ty a hundred times for doing this
Just awesome! Works even with smaller round reflectors. Thanks Jason !
This video is such a live saver! Thank you so much. Folding was never so easy!

Brilliant!! Million thanks
Duuuuude! I was dealing with this same issue this morning! I used a 5x7 chroma key for the first time today and had not folded a large popup before! Your method looks much easier than another KZread'r I found!
This has been a revelation! I get a sweat on fighting with mine! I've got a video somewhere...how not to do it. I don't care if I learn nothing else from your great videos...this is your best video and most informative. I will have to come up with a new work out. ☺

Joe Slug lol so glad it helped you!!!
I do feel for him. Jason was correctly showing how to fold something like a 5' by 7', but the one he demonstrated on was just on the cusp between medium and large. As he says we've all struggled with the large ones, I had one left up in my office for about 3 months and I kept telling the wife I was using it as a background.
It's like your psychic! I was on a shoot yesterday and struggled to close mine cause I couldn't remember the nack to it. My model found it hilarious Haha cheers 😬🕵
The amount of times I need to come back to this video hahaha Hey anyone interested in adding a small group where we have weekly projects and encourage each other? Or any group recommendation?
THANK YOU SO MUCH! PHEW!
Thank you so much for this.
omg I can move on with my Friday night now.
Th so you. You saved me! Stefano
You sir, are a Jedi. Thank you!

Fermín Macías so true, my man..
you genius!
I still think it is impossible. I fight with mine for 15-20 min each time. On the plus side it is like exercise and I am always tired after it and my arm hurt so it is good for me I guess
super useful !! thank you ~
I bought one in used condition, and the metal frame is open! The ends have come apart. I tried forcing them together, but it is so hard! Any advice for me? Looks like one end of the metal frame has two holes, and the other end has to plugs that could fit, but I just can't fit them with my bare hands. Otherwise excellent tutorial, thanks!
Ty for the many different angles.... I just got my brackdrop, and trying to figure out how to put it away. I’m looking like I’m making mine into a 3 leaf clover.
Merci beaucoup! :) 👍
Hey Jason! I am fan of your style of photography & more than that, the fact that you are a good human being. QQ: I have an impact 5 x 7 background just like the one you use in this video - The only problem, the side band is way too strong for me to be able to fold it easily. You seem to be able to fold it super easy. Looks like the one that you use is way more flexible that mine. Can you share the brand you are using in this video?
wow I was AMAZING lol 😂😆😂😆😆😂😆😂😆😂😂😆😂😆 had my wife dying lol

I’ve been trying to get my wife’s folded for about 6 months. Watch this video. Bingo bango!
I thought I couldn't do it but I did it. :)
Man! Thank you so much! (My wife thanks you too!)
You made me really laugh!!! ...I like your work, by the way!
Thank you!!!!!!!
Wish I would’ve came across this video an hour ago
My hero! LOL the best. :-)
Thank you
After many punches to the face from this thing, I finally got it
Next you should do one on one of those pop-up dressing rooms:) lol.

natasha rawls oh my, that could be deadly and towards the end of a shoot " aint nobody got time for that " the lady would tell me..
Tried it. Cannot get it folded no matter what I do. Yours seems very flexible. Mine is much tougher. 😱😱😱😱😱
Thank You! Stupid thing was driving NUTS!
Can anyone help me find this diffuser..cant find it here in India
Do you have a link to the gimbal you are using?
Folding reflectors is just like folding bandsaw blades, same motion, only they don't bite you when you screw up!

Well, I did get a nice bump on my forehead when I tried to fold one, and it popped up and smacked my head. :D With this video, I finally got it folded!
Can you repeat this again? 😜 By the way i Love your Fotos!
between this and a small beach tent that folds similar have left me looking like a fool lol. I try to fold them up when no one is around.
Thank you😅
where can i buy that?
No no no, I broke two glasses and a vase, and possibly my nose, 😂 I’m buying a bigger car so I Never ever have to fold it again. But seriously, after a practise session it’s easier than the “ grab the middle and twist” of smaller reflectors. Thankyou
whats the size of that diffuser?
I'm steel struggling with mine !
👍👍👍 good 😂😂
Mr. Lanier, I owe you a beer. :D
You make it look so easy! It is very annoying!!!
😊👍👍👍👍👍
Wow, your method makes this a breeze! I usually contort mine in bizarre ways for 10 minutes until it eventually collapses in on itself and seems to fold correctly on its own, leaving me with no idea what I just did or why it decided to suddenly fold the right way. Your method is so much easier to remember and understand, thanks 🙏🏽
Thanks! Because I can never get mine back in the bag.
you guys must know there's old people like me out there
I can't be the only one who finds it almost sad how many "photographers" can not, regardless of time or effort, get a reflector/diffuser/modifier folded. Ha, most of them are the same ones that "do professional shoots", but look up a 20 minutes step-by-step tutorial for lighting and camera setup and then still ask questions like "What settings do I use for this guy, in March, from New York, with my iPhone. I know I need 7 strobes, but should I use bulb mode or shoot at ISO 256000? Halp plz."
My sides won’t go in lol
even a woman could do this 😜 after a week rehearsal 😂 😂 😂 😂
