Girl! You hit my nerves so courageously that I picked up my black and decker light weight hammer drill, took a deep breath and in no time put my curtain pole up. I have been dreading to do this for months since I owned the drill. 👍👍👍👍. I subscribed too.

Your comment made me laugh so hard!!! I’m very handy! (Built so many flat packs, I changed my sockets, installed my own integrated dishwasher (including dismantling kitchen unit that was there, and a connected with the rest of the units!) But I was soooo scared to do my curtains!!! 😂😂😂
Love to see ladies cracking on with everything. Brilliant

So many years later this is still so useful! Thank you so much
This was a great step by step instruction on how to hang curtains. I had never used a drill before and didn't want to mess up putting holes in my wall incorrectly. I had already read about all the different parts I needed to hang curtains and bought them last week but was still unsure how to tackle the job. I watched your whole video and went straight upstairs and had them hung in no time by following exactly how you did it. Thanks for giving me the boost I needed to get it done.

Thanks for this! Very helpful 👍🏻
well done , you made it look very easy
I can listen to you for the next 10 years as your accent is Amazing
So easy you fitted curtain pole and understood measurement from each side 👍
Great job. I’m ready to hang mine. Just painted my room. Very beautiful also.
simple and nice .. Thanks!
Wow.. well done, you’ve just given me the confidence to do this on my own. Who needs men ey!! 😂 getting my husband’s toolbox out as I type 😂
Good job 🤙✌️💪

Thank you. Very helpful. I had no clue. From the States much appreciation.
I'm honestly not having a pop, but for curtains that large I would drill into the block behind the plasterboard and use either a corefix fixing or two plugs and a long screw. Use the screw to hammer the first plug through the plasterboard into the hole in the block, then use a second plasterboard specific plug in the wall. Then drive a long screw through both plugs to derive all the strength from the block and not the notoriously brittle plasterboard.
Thank you!!
Great video, you didnt skip over important steps, which is very helpful. Where you drilling into a plaster wall or was it solid concrete?
This is just what I needed to feel confident in doing this myself. Thank you!!

It’s quite shocking that you have so many nasty comments down below, some people just need to get a life. I found your video to be extremely useful, a lot better than the b&q one as you are showing me from start to finish, and it’s a new build as well. Thanks! I was going to ask other people to do it but now I feel a bit more confident to do it myself.

I do have one question: how do you choose the right drill for the right plug?

Red plug 5.5mm/6mm, drill no.8 screw 2.5" long Brown plug 7mm drill No.10 screw 65mm long screw
I love your makeup
Can you put the bracket up without an electric screw driver
You'd have made a great trades person 👍
Good video, what size plugs did you use please,

Hey Paddy, All depends on the weight of the curtain you're hanging as well as the pole. If you're in a new build the walls are probably hollow, so you need plaster board / hollow wall fixing. These come with the screws in the pack from wickes x
So pretty 😍
Nice video my pole was up in no time
Have a look what electrical safe zones are. Where sparky run the cables

In a new build like mine they run up from the downstairs and down from the upstairs. Older homes can be all over the place and I wouldn’t be attempting that!
Love 💓
This might be the greatest video on KZread.
Holes in brand new walls YES THIS IS MEEEEEE!!!
Did you not worry there may be wires or potential pipes where you drilled. I need to put my curtains but I’m not feeling confident.
kinda dumb question but how do i know what size drill bit i need to make the hole? do i jus measure the raw plug from the fattest parts of its perimeter? which is 8mm for me....?
@HomeIdeology

Lord TROLLINGTON Ok so if you can get them as close together in size as possible. If your unsure of which size drill bit to use when drilling into the actual wall start smaller than you think because once the hole is there you cant make it smaller. Find out the approx weight of the curtain you are hanging, and they type of wall you have (this is plaster board) and use the correct raw plugs for the same wall type. I.e I used 25kg raw plugs and the pack they came in had the screws that go with them, so you can’t go wrong x

Was the centre bracket really necessary for such a small window?
@HomeIdeology
3 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely. I’d suggest any width window over 80cm roughly. But it does depend on the weight of your curtains. Better to be safe, especially if you have kids around.
hey i know this isn’t really much to do with the video since it’s about how to put up a poll but do you know how to remove a wooden curtain pole,i don’t wanna remove the bracket since i can’t put others up but i have to somehow get the curtain pole off so i can put up some eyelets but the pole just won’t budge when your supposed to pull it out.can i have some advice or help please?
@HomeIdeology

there will probably be a very small screw that you can remove with a tiny Allen key. that’s what tightens normal curtain polls. just feel along the pole and you should find it. They are no more than 5mm. hope that helps
So we dont use water level to make sure the line for 10cm are correct?

I am trying based in your video but with the drilling machine I couldn't hole the wall. I am using 2.5 number but it not going forward. May I know what is the size to drilling the wall..?
@HomeIdeology

There’s a chance you could be trying to drill into breeze block. If you tap the wall before making the hole you’ll be able to hear if it’s hollow, then you can use plaster board raw plugs. If when you knock on the wall if feels like your tapping brick it probably won’t drill. Good luck!

@@HomeIdeology Thank you for your inputs. I forget to update this one, with drilling machine it's holed upto 1 inch but after that it's not moving forward.
Great video but I live in an old house . More daunting to me . New build are easier to drill 😞 I’ll need to use a hammer drill , It’s very loud & takes forever Wish me luck . Thanks
GOOD OLD GIRL, nice to see a lady telling us blokes how to do a D.I.Y job, even better is one with a tool box and knows how to use it, is it a dot and dab wall your going it to , hollow plasterboard wall or a soild wall?? cuz my new build walls are all hollow, not easy hanging items, nice one and thanks for vid, regards Matt

Most new builds are dot and dab plasterboard. Unfortunately she hasn’t drilled the fixings into the lintel that will be above the window so it’s not a strong enough fixing. There are lots of fixings you can use in dot and dab hollow walls. Just Google fixings for hollow walls. Always ensure you have checked for pipes/electrics etc before drilling.
Lol.. I bought the exact same curtain poles from the range today and found your video...
Love the accent 😻
It's easier to start drilling from the middle
Oh Ding Dong...
I didn’t learn a thing. I wasn’t listening as I was too distracted.
Can you read to me?
Nice video but have to agree with another comment. You’re likely to have either a metal or concrete lintel behind the plasterboard. Plasterboard is not typically strong enough to carry the weight and force required for poles and curtains. In time the fixings you’ve put in will come away especially if the curtains are heavy. You may get away with it in a spare room where the curtains won’t be pulled a lot. Ordinarily with a metal lintel you drill with an SDS drill and bit to make a pilot hole then screw. Or if concrete as someone suggested use corefix screws. A bit more homework and you’ll get there.
what a woman
Whats this video about again??
Ok so you currently look as if you've had a pro makeup artist on your face.... I'm doing some home improvements hence me commenting.... I am currently a sweaty mess, mum bun, no bra and tramp trousers! Yet we have the same choice in pole ha! ALSO I can see you live on a new build estate as do I, you've used the wall plugs that came with the pole, did they work long term wise? I'm just worried they look to small to use on the plasterboard walls in my 4 year old new build home..... on a different note your headboard is lovely against your wallpaper choice! From sweaty mother of Two humans. .... wish me luck!
You are very beautiful.
OMG look at all those fucking cushions you have to move every time you go to bed - nightmare!
This is wrong you've blocked the radiator!
You looking cute, and like for that nice idea
okay okay type and unfortunately you talked too much unnecessarily more than your work
