They can be indeed. And people think they have it all out but alas not always.....I actually recommend doing this and let it cool. Then drive around short block and do it again.......That way it forces the air to the top of the system. Thanks for watching

I’ll have to post a video sometime of mine. It’s still running powerful but the low coolant came on when I was sitting in idle for a long time recently on a hot summer night.

My pleasure. Sometimes it can be quite difficult to get it all out. That is why we have to let it run long enough to open up the Tstat as well. because it will trap air in there unless you have a passive tstat and it is installed correctly. Thanks for watching

Thank you. So many people have videos on this but don’t show the full procedure or use the hose that shows the air bubbles coming out. The forums everyone has a different way of doing it. Going through this now have overheating because I had some work done to my distributor and the mechanic didn’t bleed it properly

Still not over....Got to wait and see. Going to have the coolant flushed with some BG flush and a new refill. Owner acknowledge the guys mistake and I have it in writing that they are responsible for any unforseen damages. Thanks for watching

I personally bled mine right at the Thermostat housing. There should be another bleader screw to the left of it. It works better to get more air out of the system. Just make sure to put a rag right under it or Coolant will dribble down by the Ooti and if that gets wet......lights out. .

Some of the tstat housings actually have a bleeder on the housing itself. but the one in the hose is higher then the housing and tstat. And that is the best place to get it out. I have heard so many people say that....but the opti is water resistant anyway. Or they could not put it there nor drive in the rain. Thanks for watching

@@CamaroTime mine is a 96. I got 2 bleeder points on that hose. Speaking of T-Stat, as of today I gotta replace mine now since I didn't do it when I put the new water pump on. Only the gasket is a little warped from Re-installing it. I also see that mine has the original Opti on it from the factory. It runs perfectly and some are not a sealed unit, but the factory ones are, so I don't gotta worry about water getting on it. But I will try the "Top Bleeder" this time. Thanks for your input, I always listen to second opinions.

I don't think the opti is as weak as people say, but I do think the ignition coil location is problematic! I moved mine and the car is so much better!

How often during this process do you need to check the coolant resivoir level? I seen others do this with the rad cap off so they can monitor the level from the radiator directly. It makes sense not opening the rad cap to risk more air getting in. Thanks.

I would check it after doing it a couple of time. You will not lose much coolant at all. Opening the radiator cap is no issue as long as the car is running as it will be pushing coolant in that direction thereby pushing air out. But you def want to get it back on before you turn car off as it will try to suck air back in that way as it cools. Thanks for watching

I just got a 95 Z28 and 2 questions. 1 is i have a little blue elbow nipple thing on my intake hose behind the maf that's not hooked up to anything "little rubber hose", what's that? Also under light acceleration my car stumbles/hesitates could the tps cause that?? My Z28 isn't as clean as yours but i'm slowly getting her there

Hey there. Congrats. I would need to see a photo of what you are talking about. It could be many things. The TPS , the MAF, dirty IAT, stopped up cats, bad ECM, bad coil, bad plugs. Mine was not that clean when I got her either. But steady work prevails.........Thanks for watching

I've read countless forums and watched multiple videos, but nothing seems to be working for me. I got a 97 Trans Am in March, had the thermostat and waterpump changed in April, replaced the radiator and all hoses in September. Been trying to bleed it since. Every time i hit the bleeder valves, I get solid fluid, even at/above operating temperature. But I can tell there's air in my system because one of the radiator hoses gets swollen and stiff like it's inflated with pressurized air. Sometimes when I hit the throttle, coolant starts to bubble out of the radiator cap and the hoses that connect there. Have any advice that might help me?

Honestly, it sounds like the radiator hoses are crossed/backwards. Try switching them around. Thanks for watching

People always think im crazy when I say my coolant system needs bled because it isn't accepting the coolant. Great video ! Quick question though... Not all cars have that purge valve . Mine does not I think it was installed or reinstalled too low so the air is still getting trapped. Is this possible?

I have a 94 Trans Am I bought new. It has green coolant since new. Are you sure you're supposed to be using the orange Dex cool ??

That us right around the change over date just like mine. As long as it is universal you are good. In the iron blocks I actually prefer the green as DeX cool can cause some rust. Thanks for watching

I have a 94 LT1 and when I got it it had Green coolant in it so I’ve been using that. Should I do a complete flush and switch to Dexcool? In the manual it says 1825M?

Hey there. Green coolant is not necessarily bad. They came out with a universal green that can be used in anything. According to GM 1825M is a green antifreeze. Somewhere around 96 they switched over to Dex Cool. So having green in there it would be correct. Thanks for watching

Not certain about the roadmaster. But if it has the res you should be good. You can always take the cap off (when engine is cold) and start it up. Keep eye on the coolant and hand on the hose. When the hose gets warm to the touch shut off car and replace cap......Thanks for watching

If it has the bleeder screw absolutely. Reason being they put the bleeders in the highest location as air is pushed upwards and gets trapped there. Thanks for watching

What is the normal running temp of this car Sir? i’ve heard that the LT1 engines are running hot from the factory

Depends on the thermostat you have in it. If you never changed it, it is probably a 180 degree. So anywhere from 180-200 will be the norm. Keep in mind these gauges are way off. never seen one close. Mine will climb all the way to the bottom of the red before the fan comes on. So you may want to check your gauge. if you ever get concerned at a light or what have you, just click the AC on for a couple seconds. That forces the fan to manually come on. Thanks for watching

Not telling you what to do but I would flush it first then. To get out any rust. Then just use the green kind that you dillute. mix it a gallon at a time until you need no more

I wish there was an easy yes or no answer for this. But sadly not as all LS engines are not the same depending on car, truck, boosted and so on. So I can not say. but if you think you have air in your system you can take off the radiator cap allow the engine to idle and keep your hand on top radiator hose. When it starts to get warm put cap back on and switch engine off. this will allow the air to escape paste the thermostat out the top of radiator. And as the engine cools it will force some out the other way back into your overflow tank...Do that a couple of times and you should be good. But let car cool down between cycles as it will build up pressure and you don't want to get burned opening a hot system

Mine "shoots" water then air, then back to water then air as the car is running. What could that be?

That is just the car purging the air. As the car gets warmer the t stat will open and there will be air there as well. SO it has to get out.......Thanks for watching

Mine never had water come out , only steam . And the temp guage got up around 260. So I shut it off. Just got done doing an opti and water pump.

I've been trying to purge my 97 lt1 Camaro but the low coolant light keeps going on. My backup tank has plenty of fluid but Radi doesn't seem to suck fluids from it. I washed the backup tank so it isn't clogged at least. Any thoughts?

More than likely the actual coolant level sensor in the side of the radiator is faulty. Mine used to come on all the time. Thanks for watching

@@CamaroTime Thank you for assists. Mine shut down eventually. i drove around a bit, purged a bit through the purge valve. repeat few times. the light never went off but it didn't light up after i shut down for a while. Maybe the light doesn't reset unless you shut down your engine.

Motor sounds a little slappy

Good video. Only saw one thing that wasn’t correct. You’re suppose to mix antifreeze and water 50/50. That’s why you’ll see 50/50 dexcool antifreeze sold in stores, so if they put a gal of water and a gal 1/2 antifreeze in your car then they did nothing wrong.

Not all antifreeze is that way. It will say on the jug that it is full strength and needs to be dilluted or it is already mixed. Thanks for watching

Prior shop did a halfass job and didn't drain all the 20+ year old dexcool. Not impressed guess I have to do it myself!

Yeah. They probably did it while it was cold so it was trapped behind the tstat. Not to mention, the recovery tank
