    It's funny how you're focused on lifting the foil. That's what I was doing when I started to learn dock start after some time wing foiling. And to progress with the dock start I had to unlearn that to really focus on pushing down to gain speed and stop thinking lifting the foil at all. That's what we teach to our dock start trainees now : stop thinking about heigh, focus on gaining and keeping your speed, and that's done by pushing hard on the foil front wing.

    @@thisolddown Think more your lifting up on the up stroke, pushing down on the down, and lifting again! Speed is your friend keeps the foil moving and not stalling........A whole lot harder to explain really! The energy yes is put into the board on the down, correct! Hope this helps....

    Great video! Curious for specifics: what is the ideal fuselage length for pumping? (So set aside other relevant trade offs - if I am picking fuse length solely for pumping, what length?) Thanks!

  • @DamienLeroyYouTube

    @DamienLeroyYouTube

    Жыл бұрын

    Tony, I would say for pumping 27-29 inches for the mast. Shorter is better for the surf, less hitting the sand or reef and also keeps your wings higher to the surface for more lift and easier to lock into the power. If you are speaking fuselage everyone is going shorter for better turning, much twitchier, but a little harder too pump when learning. Longer fuselage you get more leverage easier to pump but a hair more drag unless you shrink your tail wing. More personal preference. In theory shorter more pitch sensitive longer more stable.

    Mark, at 210 pounds I would be looking for a larger foil like a 1200HA or a 250HA. I would stear towards a High Aspect as its better for pumping. Mid aspect and low aspect you add drag! My thoughts....
