Everything I was looking for (with an unexpected bonus) before taking my Dad, Brother and Nephew out to Marysville. I'm a jigger typically so I just wanted to review some alternatives and dust off the cobwebs. Thanks for the advice brother!

Basically very slow drifting with just enough weight to drag the bottom....Learn something new everyday....& the technique definitely puts the Wallies in the Boxx!!

Question for you. When trolling with a crawler harness and with a torpedo or keel weight. How many feet away from the actually spinner blade do you attach it to? Or from the start of the harness lead

  • @TeamJesusOutdoors

I typically run inline weights, so it is directly in front of the harness. Same with tadpoles. I believe that torpedoes are the same. Snap weights would be the exception, because you can remove them from your line, to land fish.

You really don't need to break the bank to get into jigging for walleye. You would be fine with a off the shelf, 6 foot medium/ fast spinning rod and a 30 or 40 dollar spinning reel, with a smooth drag. Personally I really like Kast King spinning reels. Really smooth drag at entry level prices.

When pulling harnesses do you pull up river also or is that too much for your trolling motor?

  • @TeamJesusOutdoors

Always trolling downstream, WITH the current. The presentation is all about the blade spinning at the proper speed. Going against current would have the blade spinning like a helicopter...lol I am constantly paying attention to the blade when pulling harnesses. Check it frequently to know how fast you need to be trolling.

Are you pulling with the current or against it

  • @TeamJesusOutdoors

Most of the time, with the wind/current, particularly if you are drifting them. If you are trolling, then it matters less.

It's an old rig, but not used as commonly is the River, as it is in Lakes. Its incredibly effective and efficient!

Thank you for your witness brother. God is the only entity in existence the reason for whose existence is in himself. Every other entity or quantity has the reason for their existence outside of themselves. We are caused we are contingent we are dependent. God is uncaused he is infinite and he is independent. a lot of times I don't try new techniques because I don't have confidence in the techniques I'm already doing, and those techniques I continue to try to refine to have results.
