Thank you for the tutorial. Im new to pruning. I noticed when you prune excess branches you leave a little stub. I thought were supposed to prune closer to the collar? Right outside the collar? I cant wait to see how this tree fruits. Can you provide a video on that too? So we can see the outcome of this major cut that happened 3 years ago?

No leave that stub for fruit , next year he will die and you can remove it. Sure i will make video this summer with fruit i hope that weather will be on my side :D

Do you have a video to share which explains the principles behind the KGB tecnique? Can you please explain why do you tip all the leaders? Should the leaders be tipped every year? Вы правы, она станет толстой и будет оголяться, и не будут расти боковые ветки, ближе к стволу,лучше срезать весь молодой прирост, тогда пойдут боковые ветки и на следующий год , основную ветку нужно перевести на удобную боковую ветку. Так как это система KGB, эту ветки все равно нужно будет срезать на обратный рост.

it is best when it is warm and dry and that period is at the end of summer.

You ask me when is the best time, i have a lot of orchards to prune so i need to start on time to prune. Best time is late summer, you can go with to pruning seasons one after harvest and second in the late summer or spring.

Thank you so much for your wisdom. I have 9 cherry trees on a property we live on and they are about 40 to 50 feet tall. Can they be topped to a height that is reachable from the ground or will it kill the tree? Don't know if they are too old to do anything with. Thank you so much for your help.

you can cut only the tops, the tree will be okay

How can I encourage new branches to emerge from the trunk of my sour cherry tree so I dont have to climb in a ladder to harvest fruit.. I have an 30 year old Montmorency sour cherry tree that has grown to over 15 feet tall wit three 5" thick sub trunks emerging out of the main trunk. The 2 of the sub trunks were broken and split because of a late winter Ice storm several years ago but surprisingly still produce lots of cherries.

Open it so that more sun can pass through the trunk to stimulate the growth of those parts.

Those cherry varieties that prefer bearing on two-year-old branches. Early cherries such a early lory , star, nimba.

There are types of chrries that are not for the KGB system, such as cordia regina.

mmm wish i could show you my cherry tree and if i should do this instead of just trimming it,.. it has been left untouched for 15-20 years and probably is 25-30yrs old maybe older,.. no i mean its like 40-50 yrs old

ok,. well either way a major cutback/pruning shouldn’t kill it? i understand it’ll be a long recovery without any cherries,.. really no choice the tree is too close to my house and now branches high up are hanging over the porch,. i’d say it’s 50ft high give or take,.

KGB je sistem za visok kvalitet plodova i jednostavnu rezidbu ne za manji porast, ako vam je stalo do manjeg orezivanja kupite neku krzljavu podlogu tipa gizela 3 i 5.

Другие деревья обижаются, да и трава не обкошена. Хотя эксперимент с одним деревом тоже кому то нужно показать
