I previously sold art prints on Etsy and spent a lot of money on graphics designing them and saw several off my designs on Aliexpress and contacted these people and one actually replied with just "OK" which isn't helpful and didn't realise just often this happens. I am more creative opposed to artistic and really feel for the many talented artists on Etsy. I am now selling digital downloads and still worry about art theifs creeping and just taking whatever deisgns they like. I did watermark then decided against it and now only putting my designs on mockups and not uploading a larger version of my design and hope this will help

Yes, this can be tough to try to avoid. We are hoping with Etsy cracking down on this, other sites will also start to follow suit.

I have a similar but different question - I'm worried about people just copying my printable and not trying to resell it, but just taking the idea and re-creating it on their own for their own use. If you're showing the printable in the photos, they see it all and can just create it, right?

Technically yes, but most other sellers aren't going to do this.
