    Here’s my 2 cents I’ve used this many times, and it can't be wound around the pipe to use up the excess. The directions state these type installations could be a fire hazard. If you have a 2 foot pipe don't purchase a 3 foot heater.

    Showing the procedure from top of hydrant to bottom would have been great as well as the hydrant after completion. Not nit picking I was a great presentation. I just don't know if you had to run the tape below the ground surface as some people say is important.

    I live year round in a 1 year old 40'foot RV in NS Canada. My problem area is the connection site at the outside water hose connection site. My temps here go down to -20 at max and that's Celsius, Not F*. My trailer has what's called the winter package, which essentially means its a covered underbelly All the hose under AND outside the trailer has been heat wrapped, taped, wrapped in slit pool noodles and placed upon wood planks and some on styrofoam. The issue I had last year was freezing at the outside wall connection site even though the outer hose had loads of extra wraps on it. What I had to use was a MAGIC heater bag at the outside connection site to unthaw the freeze up, I froze up 5 times last winter. I do run two heat lamps under the trailer near to the tanks and the inflow of water which is actually at the rear of trailer and under the belly. All of my trailer has a wooden and vinyl skirting as well. So there is about 3 feet of external hose that faces the east. I need to devise something at the outer connection site to protect it from the winter freezes, and the 3 feet of hose that's exposed as well. I live alone so I'm no carpenter nor plumber. Retired now age young 62. any suggestions for me? I'd appreciate it . My outer hose is wrapped and is essentially about 4 inches thick now with all the wraps on it. My trailer did fine through our recent hurricane Fiona ! Boy was I happy about that, I was on the edge of that hurricane. High winds and beating rains. Any advice and sooner than later please. The plumber I hired as a no show. I was going to pull the line inside but that's not happening from the looks of it!!

    Wow… -20 C!!!!!! We have never camped that cold before!!! So glad to hear you made it through Fiona! Unfortunately the only way we know to get through that cold is to disconnect everything water externally and rely on your underbelly heaters and fill as needed… sorry we can’t be more help! We wish you luck!

    @@WanderfulRevolution I just did it up for the winter today. So I had bought an EBike and it was shipped so I used the very thick foam pads and I covered up the outer already insulated / tape heated waterline with this foam,secured it with 4 inch wide waterproof tape then I covered it using ( lol get this ) a waterproof winter proof case that is supposed to be for outdoor heat lamps for patios. ( Amazon) That has silver lining so u probably know what I mean. Used it upside down it has a zipper that runs vertically I did not zip but rather I fashioned it around the flexible foam Along with some styrofoam I had left over from the skirting So it basically has been secured. I made sure it butted up to the trailer exterior and that it had lots of thickness on top connection of waterline. That’s the weakest area for freeze ups IMO Thank you for reading my lengthy messages and responding right away. I am a subscriber to your channel now and I’m glad you are now added to my list of wonderful you tubers. I’ll let you know next spring how I made out over the East Canadian winter 🥶 Thanks 🙏

    So even with all this and my RV is four season with heating pads on all tanks.....how do you protect the actual lines that have water? Drain them every time you use them? Leave them running?

  • @WanderfulRevolution

    If it gets too bad we would just fill the holding tanks and drain any external lines… refill and dump and necessary… kind of a pain but better than busted lines!

    In our Airstream everything was sealed and heated. It also came with tank heaters to keep our water from freezing... if temps get too extreme you can always do an external fill and no water hookups!

    HI I am new to living in a RV, and am moving somewhere cold for a job. It will get down to a max -10. Will the heated hose keep the water lines inside the RV unfrozen, or does it only keep the actual outdoor hose from freezing. Thank you in advance

  • @WanderfulRevolution

    @WanderfulRevolution

    It keeps the outdoor hose from freezing… be sure to insulate the connections too!!! It will not keep your holding tank from freezing unless you have tank warmers too… if your RV doesn’t have them you can buy and add them

    @@WanderfulRevolution any suggestions on how to keep the water lines that run through the rv from freezing? Where I am at currently my lines are freezing at about 25 degrees and I have a 4 season trailer. @@gideonosborne849 the only thing we know of is to put skirting around and heaters underneath… we’ve seen people do this before but never have ourselves… if you’re constantly moving it may not be practical… we have never dealt with temps that low before

  • @WanderfulRevolution

    @WanderfulRevolution

    3 жыл бұрын

    An anti-frost hydrant can still freeze if you have water going through it. In order for it not to freeze, it needs to be turned off. Essentially it allows all the water to drop below the frost line when it’s off, thus it won’t freeze. We had water in the line so we protected it.
